We celebrated Chinese Lunar New Year at Shanghai Terrace with my 80 years old mom, who was Shanghainese. So I thought it would be the perfect place. We ordered the cucumber salad, beef tenderloin, truffle scallops, seafood rice, and sea bass. The food was well prepared, but it felt more Americanized with some Sichuan influence rather than traditional Shanghai cuisine. That said, the service was outstanding β truly some of the best we've experienced at a Chinese restaurant. Overall it was a good experience, though my mom probably wouldn't return if she's looking for authentic hometown Shanghai flavors.

Shanghai Terrace stood up to their phenomenal reputation. The food, service and drink were all incredible. We had the Tenderloin potstickers as an appetizer. They were tender and flavorful. The entrees were the star of the meal, as they should be. On the server's recommendation, we had the sea bass. Oh my, it was cooked with a perfect crust in a delicious sauce. Wow, I can still taste it 3 days later. Incredible. But, the pork belly was not to be out done! It came beautifully arranged and looked like a temple. The mushrooms and sauce that accompanied it were perfect. The pork belly was tender and flavorful. We had to skip dessert but they brought us the classic almond cookie and they were spot on. I will be back to enjoy more of the menu. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I felt like I was dining at a preschool, so many loud children at one table that others had to asked to be moved. The wait staff should have asked the adults to not have their children singing and using chopsticks as drumsticks.

It is always wonderful to have New Year's Eve dinner at Shanghai Terrace and it was wise on our part to book by Halloween rather than procrastinate to around Thanksgiving! :) Cocktails to start were Hello Sunshine for her (vodka) and a Margarita for me, as good or better than any from a Mexican restaurant. Dim sum for appetizers was our usual go-to's with Lobster & Chicken with black truffle dumplings for her, Crab Siewmai for me (and sharing one of four!). Australian Red Abalone was my main course while she returned to an old favorite, Maine Lobster with a light ginger sauce appealed to her in a new recipe from the former hotter Szechuan sauce. Mango pudding for dessert with double espressos capped the evening's meal.
