Smee's Alaskan Fish Bar & Market Place

I've been here a few times and last time we were here we were passed up multiple times. We were served about 40 minutes after arrival, that was just water. Our server apologized to us.
We decided to give Smees another try and it was the worst. We were seated and our server was very polite. We understood that it was crowded and decided to be patient and have a few drInks while waiting for the crowd to die down. As the crowd died down we then placed our order. We sat there for 2 hours and did not receive our food. Our server approached us and apologized while telling us our food (2 dozen fresh oysters) would be coming soon. Another worker came up beside her and proceeded to tell us how the kitchen had closed a half hour ago. We were comped with 6 oysters because their schucker messed up an order. 2 hour wait for oysters and then told the kitchen had closed? Very disappointing and very unprofessional. Meanwhile we remained patient and polite even after seeing people who arrived AFTER us receive their orders. Just WOW!

It's right on the river and beautiful. There's a bartender there who makes the BEST Bloody Mary. I wish I could remember his name! The food is just okay. I wish they stayed open later.

Great food. Everything was very tasty and fresh. Very good service and great view of the river. That was the best restaurant on the river I eat at while in Reno. Will definitely go back and recommend

Visiting from out of town and we came upon Smee’s. Looking for some fish for lunch, they had a good selection on their menu. The place was really nice looking and had all the elements you look for in a restaurant- cleanliness- no fish smell- iced oysters- full bar. I had a super fresh house salad- good blue cheese dressing, seared ahi on greens came with ginger soy sauce and wasabi sauce on the side. Ahi seared to perfection with sesame seed crust. My friend had the shrimp skewer on a bed of sticky rice and she reported that it was good! The server recommended the shrimp skewer and answered our few questions. If I lived in Reno I would definitely make this a favorite spot- not to mention there is a patio overlooking the river. Lastly a shout out to our server Olivia- outstanding service and we later learned it was only her 4th day on duty! Oh and the bartender made the perfect gin martini and added fresh cocktail onions and martini olives at my request! Cheers.

Cute place right on the river with covered outdoor seating. It was a little chilly so I wished that the terrace wasn't covered so that you could get some sun but I'm sure in the middle of summer it's better with the cover. I ordered the clam chowder which was just ok. My sister in law had a wedge salad and my husband had tacos and a salad. All the food was mediocre. My soup came out luke warm. Lunch was pricey but I guess you pay for the ambience. This is one of my sister in laws favorite places so it must be better at other times like brunch or happy hour.

Atmosphere is beautiful, though we kept getting tiny drops of water on us from what I believe is the AC unit above.
The service was pleasant but forgetful. Our server was nice but she forgot our booster seat for the toddler and his pineapple juice.
The food was very yummy but somewhat small portions.
The mango margaritas were fantastic, however.
We didn't leave disappointed but I would definitely order differently if we visit again.

No fire pit at the patio.
Attendants were not responsive even when there were not many customer. Was hoping to get a cup of water with no ice, asked twice.
They also took away plates when one of us was still having food.
Asked to split bills, but at the end charges were all posted on the same credit card.

After spending $400 for our meal, the validation for the parking they gave us was not accepted and they would do nothing to correct it. You would think after being such good customers, they would be willing to make up their mistake.

Update: called the restaurant and was laughed at by the staff about the issue. Not sure if that is the way they normally conduct business but an interesting response. Both restaurant and parking garage blame one another.

Excellent all the way around. Walking into the front door you have a great view of the Truckee river down below winding through the Reno city center. Very cool. Walking in we were greeted by a friendly host to an urban, highly attractive place.I ordered the Halibut plate which came with a lemon butter sauce, mashed potatoes, and sauteed veggies. My companion had the special offering of halibut cheeks (yes, you read that right) over linguini. Both were very, very good.I'll definitely return, possibly for lunch, to enjoy either the cod fish and chips, or I may splurge on the halibut fish and chips. You just can't go wrong here. I cannot understand why the review average here is not at least a 4.8. This place is outstanding.
