I see this place has finally closed. Good riddance. This place was absolutely disgusting, management had absolutely no clue what they were doing, the sushi was the worst I have ever experienced anywhere on earth, and the staff was consistently inattentive, uncaring, rude, and seemingly entirely unable to take an order correctly. The four and five star reviews here are baffling to read. "Our mussels were pretty good, they were just dry and tasted a little off, and they forgot to remove the adductor muscle, BUT OTHER THAN THAT...." Glad to see Reno finally throwing this place on the trash heap where it belongs. It's just too bad we didn't get Gordon Ramsay to come in here first to give the owners the humiliation they deserved. Hopefully someone who actually knows something about food, or cares even a little, takes over the spot.

By far one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the area. The staff is extremely friendly and easy to approach. Special requests on orders is not a problem and the wait time for slips is generally quick and acceptable.

The service was pretty bad here, this is my second time here and i was expecting a little bit more service. It was a party of five. We weren't the only party of five there. When we got seated it took about twenty minutes for us to even get asked if were ready to order. The server "forgot" about us. When he took our order sheet it ALSO took another 20 minutes to get our appetizers. After THAT it took another 20 minutes to even get our first rolls. We didnt even get the full order we asked for we left early because it took way too long. There were tables next to us of 5+ got their rolls first when we got there way before them. Probably never coming back. The servers name was Adam.

We visit sushi pier once a year when in town. Fun place to eat with many choices. However, it's not the highest quality...but still good for the price.

Good fresh sushi very nice people that work there great sushi chef but the bathrooms were dirty and it wasn't very busy so there was time to check the bathrooms just saying other than the bathroom we had a great time :-)

Extremely disappointed. We have been coming here for 3.5 years and always had a decent experience, but always great food. Went in for dinner last night and saw the menu had changed ( which usually is a good sign) but we're reluctant when we saw our top 5 favorites had been removed, including smoked salmon. We got our drinks pretty quickly but it took 40 minutes for the starters & another 35 minutes for 1/2 of our order of sushi. 10 minutes later the other 1/2 came out. The meal was decent, nothing fantastic-- I might even say a little on the fishy side in comparison to my experiences before. My husband said his sushi was okay though. Only one drink refill, one waiter the whole time for the whole place, & a brand new host who was very slow/ inexperienced at what his role was. I left and most of the tables were still full of the same people. A large party with reservations were on their way in and I genuinely felt bad for them. I even said out-loud that we need to find another sushi place. Finally, went to use the bathroom on the way out and it was disgusting. Both toilets were heavily clogged, tissue in the ground, no paper towels, and water drippings on the floor. So gross I walked out and wasn't able to use it. Really bummed, but something has to drastically change for us to come back. When you're spending good money to eat sushi, the whole experience needs to be on point, this missed the mark BY FAR. Choose elsewhere!!

I see why it has lower stars than the original. Although the service from our server is good, the quality of food is terrible. I had a lot of skepticism when I walked in and didn't see one Asian person working or eating--that's the first thing I look for when I go to an Asian restaurant. The sushi rice was not fluffy, but hard and tightly packed around the sushi roll. The quality of fish was low as it didn't taste fresh and was chewy. The options of fish were limited--salmon, tuna, yellowtail. The options for sushi rolls appeared to be many, but a majority were fried, had cream cheese, or were spicy. This made me realize how fortunate I am to live in the Bay Area and have all these wonderful and fresh options at the local sushi restaurants. Loved the service but not the food!

I have been seeing posts on Facebook about Sushi Piers new menu and when it was announced that it would start this week I decided to check them out. It's a big place with a nice bar, they have plenty of seats and the music is reggae at just a little bit loud of a level for me but not too bad. It definitely was busy. Our waiter was very nice and the service was prompt. We didn't have to ask for anything more then once and our drinks were filled regularly. My wife doesn't do sushi or seafood so she ordered the Vegetable Tempura, and cucumber salad for appetizers and the Chicken Katsu Skewers as main course. I ordered two orders of baked mussels, some different nigiri, and some different rolls. I have to say it's nice to see a place have different rolls. A lot of places in town have almost the same exact menu when it comes to sushi. My wife's Vegetable Tempura and Cucumber Salad came out and they were decorated very nicely. The Tempura had great crunch and nice big vegetables. The cucumber salad had nice flavors and the addition of the lemon garnish actually lent some citrus to the dish and made it better. Unfortunately wires must have been crossed cause I only received one order of two mussels. They weren't bad just dry and a little chewy, they didn't remove it from the abductor muscle so it was a little tough removing it. I started receiving my sushi items. I was disappointed to see that the ordering menu didn't have the two new rolls from Nevada Brining Company on them so I didn't know how to order them. I received my orders of nigiri, a California Deluxe Hand Roll, a Salmon Skin & Octopus Hand Roll, the How We Roll long roll, and the Mr. Blonde. I figured I'll order more if I'm hungry later. The How We Roll was really good, I was very surprised cause I'm not into baked fish but it would be something I would order again. The Hand Rolls were both good and the nigiri as well. Wasn't a huge fan of the Mr. Blonde. My only issue was the rice. The rice had zero flavor, it didn't have that vinegary pop that you expect. It was also a little mushy. I know most people say "it's just rice" but honestly rice plays a big part in sushi. If the rice isn't good it changes the taste of the fish. Maybe they were busy and didn't have time to flavor the rice when they cooled it. It was disappointing and honesty stopped me from ordering anything else. My wife really enjoyed her Chicken Katsu skewers. They were nicely decorated and came with a salad and some edamame. They were nice and crispy and the edamame was a nice snack with it. She would definitely order it again. All in all it wasn't a bad meal, trust me I've had worse sushi places here in town but it wasn't the best. I liked the different rolls and the presentation. My only issue was the rice. I will try them again hopefully when it's not so busy. I'm hoping the rice will be better. Check them out for yourselves.

Well, today I spent 2 hours in a AYCE sushi session... with no sushi in front of me for 80% of the time and an empty water glass 50% of the time. The sushi we did receive was mediocre and they lost our ticket, so I cannot comment on the sushi that we ordered but didn't receive. They get 1 star because their manager was kind and cut our bill for poor service. That being said, we still paid $50 and two hours of our lives and left hungry. Overall: Go elsewhere!

HORRIBLE "service" and "staff"!!! Ruined my wife's birthday dinner with my family. Crappy food! Impossible to get anything ordered to table. They bring you other people's food and offer it to you as "extra". Will NEVER be back!!! D-Mo Answer me a simple question as someone who works and allegedly is a manager in the food SERVICE industry: should a customer have to beg for food to be correctly served as ordered, drink refills, napkins, and a check? Seems to me is staff was attentive as they are paid to be, this would have NEVER been an issue.

This is my favorite sushi place in Reno. I always get great service whether I am sitting at the bar or at a table. My kids even have a great time here. Sometimes the music is too loud and isn't really appropriate for the general population though.

FYI this location is NOT the original Sushi Pier and is under different management. This location DOES accept reservations, so just call ahead of time! Visited the Reno area during the fourth of July weekend and was quickly seated after a 10 minute wait for my party of 5. The hostess in the front was kind of confusing because she told me to wait in the waiting area without taking my name for my party??? I ended up asking her to write my name down for my group... Anyways, my party crammed into a 4 person booth and went along with ordering from the AYCE paper menu. AYCE for dinner is ~$23 per person. The ordering process is fairly straight forward, but one will need the menu to get the descriptions of each roll etc as the paper ordering menu only has the names of each dish. Apparently, my party of 5 ordered way too much and the manager was nice enough to notify us that he slashed our order in half in order for us to eat a little before ordering more. Definitely a nice gesture on the manager's part and I thank him for that! I've been to my fair share of AYCE sushi places and this place rocks! The quality of the fish and rolls is amazing. The nigiri (salmon and eel) is perfect. It has fat pieces of fish and small rice underneath it. Just the way I like it! In fact, most of the rolls here have a good rice to fish ratio in my opinion. Don't forget to also make room for dessert! The "happy ending" dessert has fried banana with whip cream and ice cream. Super good and a perfect way to end a meal. The 5 stars here boils down to the charismatic manager who checked in on my table and the great sushi here! Definitely wouldn't mind coming back here again :)

So tonight it was my pleasure meeting the hostess Raylin , and talking in her downtime while waiting for my order. I love the fact she told patrons "im gonna sit you with (sushi chef name)" ... better than not knowing and saying "heeyyyy" all night. Great customer service. Im real big on returning to the same people when i find good service.

Used to be my favorite sushi place in town, but over the past couple years, I have not been all to impressed. Pricing has gone up over the years, which wouldn't bad (i get costs go up), but the service and quality have really gone down. Food is ok. Not bad, but not great. Just ok. My daughter ordered the udon noodles and when she tasted it, she said the noodles were slimy, and very unappealing. To top it off she was given a small plastic to go spoon to try and eat it with. we had to ask the waiter for a proper spoon, and then he told me they dont have any. As for the sushi, the fish portion is small, the rice portion has increased. Food is super slow to come out, and when it does, the presentation is not very appealing. Quail egg shooters should not come out scrambled or with shell peices, just sayin'. Service in general is very poor. Slow and unattentive unless you are a friend of the service person. This is the case for the last three visits. Even placing an order (when it is empty) takes 15 min just to turn in the paper for AYCE, and even longer if you wish to place a non sushi order. took 25 min to get an order of teriyaki chicken plate. Needless to say, I do not think I will be returning anytime soon. I would not even recommend this place to anyone (and I used to, that is the sad part). To anyone reading this looking for a sushi place to eat,, I say go somewhere else. Not worth the time or the money to come here anymore.

I wasnt going to write a review but changed my mind..lol..My husband and I drove from Sacramento to come eat here because this was our favorite place and the first place we had sushi. But unfortunately we will not be coming back. We should have known better. 1. The hostess asked us if we wanted a table or bar...we said table then she asked us again if we wanted a table or a booth. She asked me for my name and said 10 mins. She kept calling some girls name and when we realized she was calling me. She goes ya you whatever your name is. I was like it's ok, I understand. 2. It took about 20 mins for us to get drinks and a paper. We ordered sprites and waters. When I took a drink of my sprite it was a boat load of salt water. The waiter asked the guy in the back to refill the machine but it was still the same and they ran out of cups and then my husband and I had to share a straw. We did happen to have a really nice waiter. Shout out to Adam. We did appreciate that he was super friendly and didnt look at us with discuss. 3. We didnt get most of our first order. However, the first part was ok. I didnt bother taking pics because it was good. Then we ordered again but we ordered a little amount cuz the guy said it was still on it's way. He gave 6 mussels that had sriracha all over it. Then a lady came by to drop off our food and I told her it was the wrong order she said she couldn't take it back just eat it, you never know it might be your favorite. I didnt touch it. So I decided to try the salmon hand roll, a bunch of grease came out and the salmon was soggy. Then the shooters we got had shells. We told the waitress and she said....and? But took a minute to realize what I was saying and brought new ones....they looked gross. Then they brought us upside down shrimp and it looked like they just gave up on them. I just got done throwing up and I'm currently stuck in the bathroom double dragoning it. Good times. For 54 bucks...wasnt worth it. I wanted to tip our waiter but we kept getting new ones and the lady was a b***** excuse my language. I'm pretty sad that I couldn't say it was the best experience like the previous one. I
