Ate here for Thanksgiving today, it was pretty good! My main complaints were the fact that the meat was cold at the carving station, it's not designed real well for all the foot traffic and there was no apple pie :( other than that, everything was good.

This was their Thanksgiving buffet - luckily, I made a reservation, so we were able to be seated quickly. Those that didn't have a reservation had to wait in a very, very long line. The food was good, considering it was a buffet, so I was pleasantly surprised. It was, however, very expensive! They charged $70/person, taking advantage of the Thanksgiving crowd. We had a nice dinner, though, it was just way too crowded and hectic. We saw our server I think only twice and it looked like they were quite short-handed because one of the elderly female managers was having to bus tables (kudos to her, though!). People were a bit testy due to having to stand in a long line, so can't blame them for that.

Have not been to Reno in years, coming back and eating at the grand buffet has been one of the best experiences by far coming to Reno. Food is great. Customer service is outstanding. definitely recommend you come here.

By far the best casino buffet in the Reno area. It starts with as soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by Samantha and her concierge-cashier team. They make the transaction super easy and friendly. The GM Vasco, who showed true leadership on the floor, greeted me and made us all feel welcomed, we were seated in their incredible comfortable dining room and were treated like we were family.
The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation is amazing and reasonably priced. Each food station had its unique theme- menu and you could just feel the sense of pride that everyone who worked there carried as they made there unique food items for you. From Vasco to Samantha and all the way to my world class waiter Saul who was a true “old school” professional.
This place is my “go to” restaurant when I’m alone, with family, friends or coworkers. I learned very quickly this place is where the locals go, and if you’re from out of town, you must stop by. Congrats GSR team.

We came for lobster night — $79 a person — and left with a story that’s honestly more memorable than the meal.
The main course wasn’t the lobster, it was Vasco — the “manager.” Imagine Mr. Potato Head with a three-strand crispy ponytail slicked back so tightly it’s holding in every ounce of regret for choosing hospitality as a career.

While my group and I waited in line, I asked a perfectly normal question:
“Would there happen to be an option if you don’t want the lobster—”
Before I could even finish, Vasco cuts me off with:
“Like is there a price difference? NO. If that’s what you’re planning on asking.”
I brushed it off and even tried to lighten the mood, saying,
“Well then, I’m looking forward to trying the lobster; looks like it’s a good turnout tonight.”
To which he replied,
“Ma’am, I don’t have time for small talk. I have to watch over my staff.”
Watch them do what, exactly? Because from where I was standing, he wasn’t managing — just staring blankly into space like his soul left two shifts ago. Helen Keller could have “watched the staff” and still maintained better guest interaction.

If Vasco can’t manage a basic conversation with paying guests, maybe managing a buffet isn’t the right fit. The Grand Buffet might want to consider that a manager should elevate the dining experience, not ruin it before guests even sit down.

We won’t be back. I hear Atlantis has a buffet that’s worth both the money and the conversation — looks like they’ll be getting six new customers next time.

Really overpriced nobody eats 50 worth of food in one sitting Except fat people maybe But the food is pretty decent But the buffet at the Atlantis is the same price and it's 10 times better

My companion and I had a wonderful time. I greatly appreciated the manager coming to check on us during the feast.

NO TO CORRUPTION

Staff objectifies women and makes sexual remarks that are uncalled for. When reported to HR, Ruby Lyn Tañega, does not do her job and states it's part of the industry. Also likes to power trip and is extremely hostile.

✨ Review: The Grand Buffet – Reno, NV ✨

If you’ve seen old reviews, forget them — the Grand Buffet has truly stepped it up under new management. The difference is night and day. The biggest highlight? Freshness. If food ever sits too long, it doesn’t get recycled — it gets replaced. At the end of the night, everything is cleared out so that the next day begins with fresh food and fruit across every station. And when I say everything is fresh, I mean everything.

The variety is incredible: from seafood and steak to Italian, American comfort dishes, Asian specialties, and a dessert spread that feels endless. Afternoons are highly recommended for the widest range of options, though mornings are just as fun if you check the menus ahead of time to see what’s featured. The pho station and one other area may be closed, but honestly, with so many other choices around, it never feels like you’re missing out.

The atmosphere is spacious, clean, and welcoming, and the staff take care of the dining room attentively — drinks get filled, tables stay cleared, and everything looks inviting. The service has that mix of warmth and efficiency that makes the experience feel effortless.

Yes, this is a buffet, but not the kind where you’re left wondering if something sat too long. Here, quality and care are prioritized. The desserts are just as fresh as the entrees, the seafood is replenished regularly, and the carving station is always worth a stop.

For anyone on the fence because of older complaints about price, quality, or service — this is not the same buffet you read about years ago. This is one of the best dining experiences Reno has to offer when you want variety, freshness, and an all-around great time. Highly recommended for families, date nights, or anyone who just wants to indulge in a feast where every detail is cared for.

The service was atrocious. Me and my wife did not get a server so a cashier had to get us drinks. And afterwards, a server came and demanded tips from us. It was not enough that we write the gratuity on the receipt. He, the sever, brought us personally to the front and demanded I put my card and sign the tip. He tried to play it off with some jokes, but my wife and I were not amused. Terrible service.

Located inside the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino, The Grand Buffett has a very big area suitable for all group types. There was no wait for a table when we arrived at 10. The front of house was very friendly & accommodating.
Not all stations were open (omelettes were being cooked at the Mongolian Grill station) but those that were, had fresh & hot food available. There was a lot of options at the fruits & salads, and desserts stations.
Tony, our waiter, provided impeccable service & was very attentive to our requests.

Prices are a lie. Not anywhere as good or special as it used to be, and not worth the astronomical $71+ per person price hike. Subpar, bland, and nowhere near Reno/Vegas standards quality of buffet at the same price.
