I do love pure country, but the new area they’ve put in doesn’t have enough air circulation causing a worker to pass out, and subsequent ambulance arriving. They are in dire need of heavy fans to keep up with their new increased maximum capacity. Couldn’t really stay past 10 minutes unfortunately. I will be willing to come again when they update the space with additional breathing room and proper ventilation. :)
thanks to a lot of supportive dance friends that share their light and energy to. this older gentleman. good exercise, music, and friendships!
This place is really cool. Pool tables upstairs and a dance floor which usually has a DJ. Great environment to dance at. Haven't tried the food so can't give it a 5 star, but definitely worth a try if you like clubbing and country.

Well, let me tell y’all somethin’ straight as a cowboy’s draw—if yer lookin’ for a spot that speaks the language of true country folks, Pure Country Canteen in Sparks, Nevada, is callin’ your name louder than a rooster at sunrise. This ain’t just some place to wet yer whistle; it’s a bona fide slice of western heaven.
Now, let’s saddle up and talk grub. Their loaded nachos? Pardner, these ain’t no skimpy, city-folk nachos. These bad boys come piled higher than a haystack with melty cheese, tangy jalapeños, savory meat, and enough fixin’s to make a ranch hand tip his hat in appreciation. And don’t even get me started on their chili bread bowl—this here masterpiece is like a hug from your grandma in food form. Rich, spicy chili tucked into a soft, warm bread bowl? It’s the kinda comfort that’d bring a tear to a cowboy’s eye after a long day on the range.
But Pure Country ain’t just about the eats—it’s about the spirit. You can feel it the second you walk in. The music hums with the soul of the heartland, whether it’s live bands playin’ their hearts out or the sweet sound of karaoke that brings out the star in every soul brave enough to grab that mic. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s downright electric.
Now, let’s talk dancin’. They ain’t just got a floor for it—they’ve got a whole arena. Big enough to let you kick up yer heels without bumpin’ elbows, but cozy enough to feel like every step is part of somethin’ special. And for those who don’t know their two-step from their hitchin’ post, their dance lessons’ll have you glidin’ across the floor like you was born in boots.
What really sets this place apart is the way it wraps its arms around folks. From themed nights that’ll make you feel like you’re part of somethin’ bigger to their family-friendly Sundays where even the littlest cowpokes can get in on the action, Pure Country Canteen don’t just welcome you—it embraces you, cowboy hat and all.
So, if yer heart beats to the rhythm of steel guitars, if yer soul stirs at the sound of a fiddle, and if yer belly craves the kinda food that sticks to yer ribs and makes you smile, then hitch up the wagon and make tracks to Pure Country Canteen. It’s a place where the west ain’t just alive—it’s thrivin’. And trust me, once you’ve been, you’ll be hollerin’ to come back faster than a lassoed calf.

The place is great and they actually play song requests. However, the bar tender on Wednesdays takes forever to do the cover fees and is not very friendly. The bar tender on Sunday is lovely tho!

The dance instructor is THE BEST! Sara B is the best instructor I’ve ever had! I’ll get back to you about the food, service and atmosphere.
It is a great place to learn country dancing and it is a great time. Wednesday nights you can bring your whole family here. It is my 1st time here and it was very fun. It is also very good price that the cover charge is 5 dollars. Sara teaches dances here on wednesdays and sundays.
Kid-friendliness: wednesday night is family night and kids are welcome. saw some kids on wednesday.

Wow. What a fun place! If you like country, dancing like 2 steps, west coast swing/ triple swing, country anything, this is the place to be. Now stay with me.
When we got there, there were no cars in the front parking lot. There was a questionable sign taped to the front door with thin lines handwriting "enter from the back door". That paper was flapping around and we circled to the back twice, which had significantly more cars than the front, and decided to give it a whirl. There was no signs on any of the doors in the back but we figured it will be OK.
Upon entry, a little lady was sitting at the end of a short narrow hallway. It was a Saturday night so there was a $5 cover charge. We got there after dinner so it was a little early but we had our pick of the tables. We settled in the far corner by the bar and had a great view. We dance to a few songs and the dance floor has plenty of space. As the evening went on, they had more line dancing.
We ordered the churro since we just came from dinner. They were pretty decent. They also serve regular hot food at a pretty decent price.
The restrooms were very clean. The decor was very fun but not like in the old dirty 20 years old way. This place has only been opened for 4 years.
Oh and they have a pool area in the Chicken Coop on the second floor. Go check it out and you'll see why it's called the chicken coop lounge.
As we were leaving though around 9pm, there was a line of people waiting to get in. There was one belligerent young cowboy trying to skip the line. That was a little more rowdy than I'd like, but that's personal preference. There was a live band, and they played a lot of cowboy classic country, like Miranda lambert. Overall, it's a great place to come do some dancing. A fun hangout or even take on a fun date.
