Saddest looking chicken feet. You can barely eat it cz its tough. We ordered fried rice , siomai. Those were good. The shrimp balls were not. We order a lot of chinese food and i think the portions were very little.

Wow, that was disappointing. Water with no ice turned into ice water. And the buns are indeed microwaved – tough from the moment they hit the table. What a waste. Wait-service was friendly, but without strong enough English to deal with any special requests. Never again.Addendum: my friend says she went there two years ago, and it was great! The woman who ran “the spot“ inside the Chinese restaurant was talking about moving somewhere else closer to town. So, probably she did, and now the reduced dim sum menu is just done freezer to microwave by the restaurant. If anybody knows where she went, please say. Maybe she opened the Dim Sum and Boba Hut on Moana, which is really great and made fresh?

Dumplings are frozen at best. I walked in and the lady asked what I was picking up. I told her and she said I was at the wrong place. I told her the address and she said that I was at the right address. I said I was picking up dumplings from “The Spot” and she just stared at me like I was an idiot. I then showed her my receipt and finally she said oh yeah we might have your order. The experience was awful and the food was worse. I should have just handed that $50 bill to the nearest dumpster because I just got ripped off. I honestly can’t think of a time I’ve had a worse meal

Really great restaurant on baring blvd, my kiddos wanted Dim Sum, unfortunately the place we go is in Sacramento. Searched yelp and this place came up. Made the drive down and was not disappointed. For it being local it was pretty good. They even had the Lotus Wrapped sticky rice. Delicious. The service was fantastic, the waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. The restaurant was very spacious and clean. They don't just service dim sum, they have sushi and a Chinese menu as well. Check them out for sure. Pretty sure this place has been around for years.

Really disappointed I went here. I spent $30 for a small amount of food that you can tell was pre packaged. I got 2 orders of pork buns and the filling was cold. What a rip off.

Walking into the restaurant which is connected to the right side of Shang Hai Restaurant, unfortunately it was about a 5 minute wait till someone finally came up and greeted us. The environment felt a little small to me so we ended up ordering Togo.We ordered their Pork Shumai, Shrimp Shumai, and the Pork Dumplings. It wasn't too shabby. From my personal opinion, the taste, freshness and authenticity was not all there for me.

We came in Sunday afternoon after seeing an Instagram ad the other day. After reading the reviews, we thought this would be a nice hidden gem in Reno, especially because Reno does not have the most variety in terms of Asian food, however, we were wrong. Coming in, the place smelled heavily like cigarettes. There was no one there, besides us. The ambiance was very dark and old school. This isn't bad, but it was a bit too rundown-looking, even though they just opened a year ago. In terms of food, it was quite awful. As a DMV and SoCal native, our expectations are quite high and we are used to authentic dim sum, and had high hopes when we saw this opening in Reno. We can tell that everything was heated up, like from a frozen package you can get at your local Asian market. Some notable dishes included, but not limited:Pork shumai - lacked flavor, soggy, and came out lukewarmPork buns - not too bad, but obviously came from a package, overall soggySpareribs - I couldn't even finish it because it was so bad. It does not resemble what pork spareribs should be.Pork and veggie dumpling - cold and soggyAlthough the server was nice, he smelled heavily like cigarettes and the smelled lingered after he would leave. Honestly, this experience traumatized my experience in having Asian food in Reno. Everything was way too expensive, tasted horrible, and was not authentic at all. This was the worst dining experience we've had. Please note that this the rating is so high, probably due to other reviewers' lack of experience.

PORTIONS: tinyPRICE: unreasonable for the quality!SERVICE: table side - she was nice, but forgot we would need three silverware when two were on the table and she forgot to bring plates SURROUNDINGS: dim and foreboding FLAVORS: A NIGHTMAREChinese Style Chicken Feet - they were GREYSesame Balls - THICK paste like too much glueSteamed fish balls - THEY'RE THE FISH BALLS YOU BUY FOR HOTPOTChicken wings - drenched in some sauce with alcoholSteamed shrimp rice rolls - I think this is their version of cheung fun but they didn't even know it came with a specific sauce and it's just dried shrimp bits Lumpia Shanghai Eggrolls (6pcs) - These were actually good but it makes sense if someone in the back is Filipino Shumai - that wasn't awfulBONUS TIP: she tried to tell two Chinese women that not all dim sum dishes are made the same.... They don't have to be, but they shouldn't be made like this....

During our visit to Reno, we were looking for some dim sum to cure our hangover before embarking on the 4-hour drive back home. After checking Yelp, we found a place with 4-star rating. However, upon entering the dim sum restaurant and noticing that the owner was Pacific Islanders and all the patrons were Caucasians, I couldn't help but feel uneasy about the authenticity of the cuisine. In hindsight, I probably should have trusted my instincts and chosen another place. We ordered around 10 dishes and a few desserts, but as we waited for the food, I noticed the chili peppers were overly diluted with salt, to the point where I could scoop it out with a spoon. The wait for our food seems endless, around 20 minutes, during which I observed a large chest freezer in the dining room. The owner kept going back and forth, bringing food from the freezer to the kitchen. I inquired about our order, and the owner explained that because it was a substantial order, they were preparing it fresh, which might take some time. I shared my suspicion with our group that the food could be coming from that chest freezer, and they possibly had only one microwave, leading to the delay.Let's discuss the food experience. The pork shumai lacked flavor and felt dry, almost as if it had been frozen. As for the shrimp har how, it had bay shrimp in them, which made it excessively fishy, leading me to spit it out after just one bite. The pork spareribs with black bean sauce didn't resemble what it was suppose to be, and I didn't even attempt to try it. Presentation is essential to me, and I couldn't ignore that aspect. I asked my wife for her thoughts, and she found it too sweat and inedible. These three disappointing dishes were enough for us to decide to leave the group and find something else. We ended up going a few doors down to buy 4-pack of IPA to help with our hangover instead. After waiting for our friends to finish their meal, they returned after 10 minutes with disappointing feedback about the remaining dishes and desserts. When the owner inquired about their experience, my friend and his wife responded loudly, "not good". I'd like to mention a couple more points. Firstly, each dish was priced at $6.99, significantly higher then what we would expect in the Bay Area. Additionally, the restaurant offered sushi. I'm glad we steered away from that. Now that I am back home, I had the opportunity to read through all the positive reviews, and I noticed they were all from Caucasians. The owner should be ashamed for serving frozen food and labeling the restaurant as a Chinese establishment. Our disappointment is evident, as the $160 spent turned out to be the worst dining experience we've had.

Came in on a Friday at noon. We had the place to ourselves, my friend and I and our 4 kiddos. When you enter Shanghai restaurant you make an immediate right into a separate waiting area then down the hall for the dim sum restaurant. It's a small space and we were greeted with the menus, boba and dim sum, and some water. Our waitress was so sweet and friendly! We ordered 7 dim sum items and all of them took me back to the delicious places I remembered from sacrament. Sparks NEEDES this time of authentic cuisine. I will definitely be back!Pro Tip- you can also order from Shanghai's menu (Chinese and sushi) and eat it on the dim sum side. It was perfect for our kiddos. Everyone got something they wanted!

The restaurant itself is nice, but servers spoke very little English, argued a bit about my order and loudly laughed at the sushi bar while we ate! Never going back!

I recently visited The Spot Dim Sum And Boba for the first time, and I must say it was an amazing experience! Although the initial wait was a bit long, the attentive service we received after that more than made up for it.The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the incredible food. Unlike many other places, the dishes here were not too heavy, allowing me to fully enjoy the flavors without feeling overly stuffed. It was evident that the dim sum and boba were made with the utmost freshness and care. The dumplings were a standout delight! They were incredibly soft, practically coming off the skin as I picked them up. Each bite was bursting with delicious flavors, leaving me craving for more. I couldn't help but savor every single bite.To conclude my fantastic meal, I indulged in the egg custards, and they were absolutely heavenly. The soft crust melted in my mouth, complementing the smooth custard filling perfectly. It was a delightful treat that left me thoroughly satisfied.Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my experience at The Spot Dim Sum And Boba. The wait, though initially long, was quickly forgotten due to the prompt and attentive service. The food was undoubtedly delicious, with the dumplings and egg custards being exceptional highlights. I am already eagerly looking forward to my next visit. This place has won me over, and I highly recommend it to all dim sum and boba enthusiasts!
