Wow. What a big change from the old Albany Pump Station! Don't like the open seating, no menus served, unless asked ? I don't need to Q my phone to read tiny words on a menu!? The big one that got me...PAY before I eat, unless I am running a tab! Are you kidding me! Hello ? everyone doesn't drink! No worries, wouldn't go there again! Enjoy!
We had three appetizers. Chicken wings. Onion rings. Calamari. The chicken wings were the best. The onion rings and calamari were decent, but not seasoned very well. We had burgers and fish and chips at the table. The fish and chips were good. Burgers were also good. Nothing was fabulous, but all of the options were decent. Service was very good. I had one glass of Sauvignon Blanc but when I asked for another they were out I don't feel they should be running out of Sauvignon Blanc. Bottom line - this is a nice place. Fun atmosphere. I wouldn't make a special trip to go there, but if you're going to a show at the palace or someplace else nearby, it's a decent place to have dinner first.
Our table was ready when we arrived. The dinner menu and prices were comparable to other establishments in the area. Our server was efficient and the food arrived rather quickly. All food was good.
Food was okay. Beer selection lacked my usual favorite hefeweizen or non-IPA choices. Was hoping Common Roots would bring their better food menu with them and leave more Evans Ale beers in place.
Bartender is amazing. The brown is one of the best in town. Try the Gobbler. 2 weeks before Common Roots moves in.
Our server was fantastic - food done as we ordered and quite delicious. BUT she was so overworked it took over 20 minutes to get our check and then she hardly had time to get payment. She did all she could but it was a lot for just two servers in the dining room.
Pay to park? 1/2 slab of ribs were tough; fries just ok, and French Dip was not lean. Waiter said all coolers went off overnight...AFTER I ordered an IPA on tap and he brought it. It was cloudy and bitter; sent it back. Saw several other tables with various beers from tap; guess they chose to gamble on a few poor reviews, rather than dump what's bad. Prices would have been ok, if food was better. There's a lot better choices for the money.
Touring a few breweries in the area and selected this one for dinner. I enjoyed the fish and chips, my husband the prime rib and French onion soup. Food was great and service was very friendly and prompt.
We had a good time. Our original table wasn't preferable and the adjustment was quickly made. Bug in the beer...beer replaced. The avocado in the Ahi Tuna Salad was missing; we didn't share that with the busy, nice, and helpful server. The french dip was incredible!!!
Great beer and food. A mus-do if in Albany.

Solid beer list, though a few were unavailable. All taps can be part of a flight. Food was tasty - impossible burger and chicken. Initial service was slow, but the food and drinks came out quickly. Cool atmosphere.
Nice environment but glaring wall light at each table. The server was great but the salmon was very overcooked and the fish fry gummy. Will not return there.
The Pump Station is a winner in so many ways. Albany does not offer too much in the way of Sunday dinner, and so we are glad this place does. CH Evans is casual, with sandwiches and some nice entrée plates. My wife enjoyed a reuben accompanied by a small caesar salad, while I opted for the gorgonzola salmon, the latter a really nice combination! Kate was our attentive server. The beer menu here is unsurpassed, and the historic atmosphere wows me every time I visit. This is a genuine neighborhood gem.
Came here with my family for lunch. We all enjoyed our food and I had a beer. Everything was great including the service.
Overall good food. My husband got a burger and loved it. I got the strawberry/goat cheese salad with chicken and the lettuce tasted like the bag it came out of and definitely seemed like it was was on borrowed time. They forgot the dressing at first too. The chicken was good, though. Funny enough, my meal was the most expensive too. Wait staff was friendly and very accommodating though.
