Is this place really closed?! I fully understand the impact that COVID has had on small businesses so if they are it'll truly be missed. Its the first snowfall of the year (2020) in Albany and today would have been a perfect day for some grilled cheese and tomato soup from Capitol Melts. I look forward to the day where this all passes and maybe they'll be able to open back up. Thanks for all of the great grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup over the last few years!!!

Had a Chipotle habanero grilled cheese and a chicken parm sandwich. Both tasted excellent in their respective classes. The pepper cheese was creamy and spicy. The parm was very italian. Pricing is competetive for downtown Albany. Clean and bright, this eatery is actually in the lobby area of a building, though you wouldn't know it. They have a reward program, and they take plastic.

Melty cheese. I can honesty say I have never had a perfectly melted cheese sandwich like this one. The location is essentially in the lobby of a building on state street. Clean neat and new. There were only a handful of tables to sit and eat. I was there on a weekday just past the lunch rush. Service was quick. I ordered the combo with a drink and tatertots. Interestingly the bottled water was more expensive than the soda. Onto the sandwich. The ham was cut up into small pieces and mixed with the cheese. There was a light toasting in the bun. The cheese has a little bit of oily goodness to it. The tatertots were seasoned with salt and pepper which is my favorite. I was impressed all around. Especially to get a good lunch for less than $9.
