Grappa 72 has always been my favorite. ❤️here’s why. I hadn’t been in awhile- used to go frequently, so I grabbed a to-go order of their excellent fettuccini bolognese and some bruschetta to take home after a very long drive- ❤️❤️❤️and had a glass of wine at their friendly and comfortable bar while I waited. It’s 100 degrees outside- so I wasn’t dressed (shorts and an ocean city tee lol) but it was early.. so I popped in to wait for my order. From reception to bar to the chef popping out with my order- to the other lovely guests who were popping in as well and enjoying banter and kind conversation.. the bartender primo making everyone happy- I can’t tell you how much that atmosphere warms my soul. Good people, great food, no pretensions, phenomenal service.. and I can attest from so many previous visits- a warm and inviting dining room where when they have music you never want to leave. Soooo well done from every aspect. Thanks Grappa!!! I’ll be back soon, I’ve missed you while I’ve been away! Did I mention the bolognese? we always had good experiences in the past but recent visit was not. Dinner and dessert took total of 4hrs. There was too much time in between appetizer and entree. After finishing entrees I eventually had to ask another waiter if someone could please take our dessert order. Our waiter seemed out if sorts entire time. My salmon was burnt and one end was impossible to chew. Won't be going back again.

We went there for a family gathering,we had a party of 12 people,we haven’t seen some of our family in sometime so we had a lot of catching up to do.The food was Ok but there are much better Italian restaurants in our area that I would recommend over this restaurant.The owner kept coming by our table and staring at us as if to say,OK you’ve been here long enough you can leave.He made us feel very uncomfortable,we were buying drinks,coffee and dessert, we spent a lot of money there,but because of the owner making us feel so uncomfortable we will not be going back there.

I’ve been meaning to try this place for a long time and I’m very glad my boyfriend and I finally made it! Amazing service and our meals, the bolognese and Vitello alla 72, were delicious. The calamari was also crispy and tender. The best part was they accidentally brought a caprese salad to our table and let us enjoy it for free, very generous for such an insignificant “mistake.” Great prices and not too loud or chaotic in there like some places that try to fit in as many tables as possible. Will be returning!

I was really hesitant about posting this review for selfish reasons (unearthing this hidden gem), but Grappa '72's amazing staff and chef deserves their recognition! We've finally discovered the BEST Italian restaurant in the Hudson Valley Region, and we've tried A LOT of them! Heck, every one I've tried after this just doesn't compare!
The food was absolutely delicious with large portions and very affordable. I'm salivating just thinking about it! I have serious food allergies and we were served by what seemed to be chef reassuring me that my food was made without any of the allergens I communicated to my waitress! What? I've never had someone go out of their way to make me feel comfortable eating my food without fear of anaphylaxis!
And to top it all off, all the desserts were HOMEMADE and the quality showed through, when we thought the night couldn't have been more perfect, the bartender surprised us with a round of drinks on him! Wow! Anytime I'm in Albany I'll be making reservations!
Dietary restrictions: The chef is very accommodating and will serve all your dietary needs if possible! That was one of my biggest highlights for this restaurant!
Parking: It's in a strip mall so plenty of parking available, even if you have to walk a little.

Victoria was wonderful. We sat out on the beautiful patio and she got the music turned on for us right away. Then she was right on top of our drinks, then extremely helpful with our dinners, and steered us in the right way!! So friendly and we can't wait to go back!! My Salmon/Lentil was delicious; husband's pappardelle with seafood (special) wonderful! The inside is lovely too and had a trio planning inside. Can't miss either way!

Exceptional service and a unique dining experience. Started with Meiomi PInot Noir, bread with olive tapenade, oil and vinegar, and loaded arrincini.
For entrees, we ordered the Mahi Mahi special, seafood special and risotto, and scallops. Everything is delicious.
I'm not sure if Grappa 72 is on well known for desserts, but they should be. Their Tira Misu is perfection, and even better is their strawberry, ricotta cheesecake, which has a lemon zest. This work a double espresso is the perfect after dinner treat.
