Shanghainese - 1st time at Hu's House for a take out order. When placing my order on the phone I ordered salt & pepper shrimp. The person on the other end of the line gently informed me this dish left the shell on the shrimp. I've never had shell-on fried shrimp before but I was game to try it so this dish, along with salt & pepper squid, steamed pork juicy bun, pan fried pork bun, and brown rice completed the order. Overall, the meal was very good. The things which stood out to me were the textures and temperatures of the dishes. The pan fried pork buns were wonderful. The dough was soft on top, crispy on the bottom and encased a savory pork filling. The steamed pork juicy bun (pork soup dumplings)...this is where I learned something. When I got home, this was the first dish we ate. It was too late, the dumplings were tepid. This dish, like sushi, doesn't travel well. I think it should be ordered and eaten in the restaurant. That way it is served piping hot from the steamer. Place a dumpling into your soup spoon, add a little black vinegar to the top. Bite a hole in the dumpling, suck out the soup being careful not to scald yourself, devour the rest of the dumpling...heaven. I also should have listened to the person on the phone with their "warning" of the salt & pepper shrimp. The texture of the shell-on shrimp was almost too crunchy; if I didn't chew on the shells enough, I felt at risk of choking on them. Another thing learned. I'm not used to eating shell-on shrimp. The salt & pepper squid was flavorful and was more inviting (for me) to eat. I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu.

Best Chinese food in town. Even common dishes taste original and homemade. I usually get soup dumplings and spicy pork with noodles, but the wonton soup and chicken/broccoli are awesome too.

Good service, very good food. Authentic Chinese food. Reasonably priced. I'll come back again next time I'm in the area

Food was good. Restaurant was difficult to find since I am from out of town. When I got there I ordered and waiting for over 45 minutes since they were making it fresh which I appreciate. Like I said, the food was good. It is pricey if it's for two people. One person could do well with an entree and rice. Will give it another visit next time in town.

Ordered delivery…Hot and Sour Soup 10.99 no crispy noodles were delivered. The soup was fine but lasted mostly of toasted sesame oil and wasn’t hot or sour.General Taos Chicken 16.99 no rice and chicken was bland.Lo mein 13.99 bland.Shanghai Fried Rice 13.99 best of the bland items.Sprite x 4 7.96$63.92 for the price and what was delivered it was very disappointing. I was very excited to try this place based on the reviews, but I won’t be trying it again.

This is a pretty classic Shanghai restaurant differing from the authentic thing only in Hu's significantly higher quality ingredients. Expansive vegetarian & vegan menu, food is excellent, 10/10. I regularly order from here and eat-in. The soup dumplings are on-par with my favorite street cart vendor outside of the downtown Shanghai Jiao Tong campus.

We drive up to Vermont several times a year and stop by Colonie, NY for Hu's House every time. It's a staple goto on our New England trips. Best Shanghai Chinese food around. Dry spicy chicken, Cumin Beef, home vegetable egg soup, Aunt Song Fish Soup, crispy Chicken with brown sauce, Shanghai fried rice, noodles with scallion, beef with king mushroom, pork belly with brown sauce, beef scallion pancakes, etc.
