I did not like this restaurant at all. Food was too oily, all the dishes tasted like the chefs reuse the same cooking sauce... even the wonton soup I ordered didn't meet any of my expectations. Too doughy, and the pork filling tasted like the meat was several days old. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Northeast Chinese Bistro, even though the restaurant seems to be one of the few authentic Chinese places in Albany.

This is our favorite Chinese restaurant for takeout, with generous portions and reasonable prices.

This Chinese Northern Eastern style restaurant is generally rated 4.5 stars, and being in Albany bumps it up to 5 stars.Must-try: five-color Chinese salad (五彩大拉皮)Recommendation: fried eggplant with minced pork (肉沫茄子) and the stir-fried taro with sugar coat (翻沙芋头).Food: I've visited twice and tried the five-color Chinese salad, fried eggplant with minced pork, stir-fried taro with sugar coat, stewed baby chicken with Chinese mushrooms (小鸡炖蘑菇), and stewed pork bones with bean sauce (酱大骨). The five color salad is a delightful mix of mung bean noodles, vegetables, and a standout sauce. The "mino" (a traditional Chinese raincoat makes out of straw) eggplant dish showcases the chef's skill, with the eggplant sliced thinly and connected. The sugar-coated taro was surprisingly good, tastier than the candied version. While the stewed pork bones with bean sauce and stewed baby chicken were decent, the pork bones are not leg bones and the chicken portion in the soup was small.Note: They offer a discount for cash payments.Parking: free parking in the plaza parking lot.

Service was eh. They never checked on us and only brought one dish out at a time. Had to wait additional 10 min for my husband's food to be brought out while mine got cold sitting on the table. Food had a weird taste and we could only eat couple bites. So pretty much it was a $45 meal that will now be fed to my dogs.

I'm really disappointed this time. The first time I went to Northeastern with my friends I really enjoyed it and would've rated for a 4-5 star. The food and service were great initially; thought I cannot say the same this time. I went prior to Chinese New Year with a couple of my friends hoping to eat out before the big day. Arrived at the restaurant and got seated at 5:15pm. Took our order around 5:20-25pm, and we waited like anyone else would. Please note that the restaurant was not busy at the moment. Around 30 minutes we asked about the wait on our food and the waiter said he'd check on it. Now it was 6:00 and we asked again, we were told "It's Chinese New Year so we're busy." This doesn't make sense since people that came AFTER us got their dishes before us (?). It wasn't just appetizers but, they were getting their main entrees. We left the restaurant hungry and disappointed. This is absolutely ridiculous. Over an hour wait for 4 dishes (water spinach, bbq cumin lamb, pan fried dumplings, and spicy beef noodle soup) and we were waiting patiently.

Great food! We will be back! This place has a casual feel to it, but the food is delicious and the service is consistently excellent.

This place is unbelievable. We had spicy pork with veggies, green beans with small pieces of pork(spicy), steam dumplings, white rice. All of it was really good. I would highly recommend this place to have great Chinese food.

It serves surprisingly delicious authentic Chinese dishes! Certified by authentic Chinese. More than tasty, even for vegetarians. Interior is spacious and tables are set at reasonable distance so it's not as noisy as other Chinese restaurants. Clean, efficient and the staff is very friendly all the way, accommodating and generous. The manager made us a complimentary dessert made of taro wrapped in sugar, which surprised all friends from Asia. It's certainly a wow-experience on one's tiring road trip. Feels like home back in Asia.Vegetarian options: The staff is more than happy to adjust their menu to vegetarian version. And more.Parking: Just outside the restaurant
