I ordered the pierogies and they were very good. The sauerkraut was unique and the bacon was rich. Loved the sour cream. The only reason I'm giving a 4 star is because they only come with 4 and for $13 I think it's a bit steep considering you could get a burger or sandwich for the same price.

Public house 42 is one of our go to spots. The bartenders are so friendly and welcoming. The food is also amazing. I have never had a bad experience here. I will continue to be a patron of Public House.

Wanted somewhere unpretentious to grab a bite before going to the at the Egg - stumbled on Public House 42 - and we were glad we did! We were directed upstairs to their small dining room and had to wait a few minutes for the waitress to see we were there. The place was extremely busy, so we knew it must be worth the wait! We ordered shepherds pie fries: french fries topped with shephards pie, cheese and accompanied by Guinness sour cream. These were very filling - looked kind of like a "garbage plate" because we actually found pieces of corned beef in them also, as I dont like corned beef this kind of turned me off. Our main courses came out right after that so we dug into them instead. My daughter had a burger and fries and I had a strip steak and fries. The fries were a little overcooked so I didnt eat any, but my daughter said hers were good. The star of the show was the strip steak! It was topped by a disc of really cold steak butter, which I tried - tasted really strong sage so I took it off and ate the steak without it. The steak was cooked to perfection and my daughter kept asking for bites of it and offering her burger in exchange- I don't think so - but there was plenty there for both of us. Once we ate this we were filled to the brim- but then the drinks we ordered in the beginning finally made their appearance - something was said about "having to wait for glasses to come out of the dishwasher" before our beligered waitress was gone again. We sat there sipping our sodas and complimenting the steak to each other before we finally got her attention for the check. There are no desserts offered - but they should rethink this as I would have gotten dessert had it been available. All the food was hot, home-cooked and tasty. The check came to a measly $50 - small price to pay for two meals with appetizer and drinks! Do yourself a favor and stop at Public House 42 - just dont go if you are in a hurry!

Great place! Tomato pie sandwiches! It was awesome for lunch! Nice atmosphere and attentive wait staff.
Perfect atmosphere, friendly bartender, food was amazing. I think I need to move closer so I can work my way through the menu. When you go (not if, when) get the Reuben chowder.

Food is out of this world, especially the reuben and the Mac cheese. Great service.

Husband and I had 8pm tickets to David Sedaris. Got to the restaurant at 6:45. Sat at the bar. Very cute interior with friendly people. Bartender served us right away. The reuben was EXCELLENT. Not greasy or fatty. PERFECT. My husband got the Reuben soup and salad. Salad was very large and filled with a great variety. Tried his soup and it was as good as my sandwich. 4 drinks, 2 meals $60. We will be back

We ate here while in town, the Irish spring rolls were excellent, and so was the salmon BLT with tater tots. I would definitely come back!! Such a nice atmosphere, and enjoyable to eat at.
Horrible owner and place.
