For the past few weeks, I've had lunchtime cravings for traditional Italian mix sandwiches/ subs. My solution has been to call ahead to place takeout orders with Ragonese Italian Imports. They don't disappoint. The sandwich is filled with generous amounts of ham, capicola ( an Italian spiced ham), salami, pepperoni, lettuce, tomato, onions, oil and vinegar. The portions are large enough that I share my sandwich with my husband. The business owners are friendly and they greet you at the counter. There's always some customers standing nearby waiting to pick up their orders. The line moves quickly and I've found the customers to be remarkably nice. I think it's because we all have shared anticipation about the awesome lunches we're about to eat. On most occasions, I don't get much further than inside the doorway because of the crowd but the other day I got a chance to look at all of the wonderful display cases. I wish I had a bigger stomach because there were so many tasty looking foods and desserts that I want to try. One time, when I was really hungry after the gym, I ordered a Hungry People sub to feed 2-3 people. That sandwich was on my bucket list, but it took me 3 days to finish it. I'm not sure I could handle another one of those but I will definitely be back for more regular size sandwiches.

Everything I've ever ordered from Ragonese Italian Imports is excellent, and I love the experience the store offers: discovering authentic Italian foods and beverages I otherwise would not be exposed to.

This is your go to - place for traditional Italian Easter Pies I live about three hours away, but my son goes to law school just around the corner from thjs amazing family owned store filled with Italian delicacies, I called on the Monday before Easter and placed my order for a savory (meat and cheese) Easter pie as well as the sweet dessert Easter pie with ricotta and orange zest. My son picked them up on Good Friday and brought them home with him to Horseheads New York. Both pies were fantastic just like my grandmother used to make. The total price of 39.95 for the two of them was a pleasant surprise as well . Just one of these pies alone would have cost that much from one of the New York City bakeries and then another $25 -$30 to have it shipped to my home. I will be ordering these Easter pies again next year for sure.

I got a delicious meatball sub. Everything about it was fantastic, bread & meatballs. If there was anything I think could have been a little better, I wish there was a little more sauce and some cheese on it.But you can't beat the taste and service.I'll be back and probably for another meatball sub . The cookies are addicting too.

Visited for the first time in many years. Clean and crowded with people. Very popular place. I only stopped in to see what is available. I did purchase some olives and a bag of tarrali. THere are a small olive selection in the deli counter (more are available in jars) and a large taralli selection. However, the imported cheese selection is very good compared to other Italian shops in Schenectady and surrounding areas that I have shopped. Will return for the cheese!
