This is by far the worst Jamaican food I’ve ever had. Ordered a stew chicken plate and a side of plantains. The stew chicken was extremely spicy, the rice & peas was mushy and the plantains were too. In addition to that, the food is overpriced.

One of the best in thr Albany area - keep going there because of the hospitality of the front end girl.... can't remember her name but she is great.

Food pricy till you try it. Probably best jerk chicken I’ve had. Best chicken I’ve had in general, it was literally cooked to perfection, falling off the bone, meat tender. Mac and cheese was less than mid and not what you’d expect from a Caribbean restaurant lol but I guess you can’t have it all.

Everything about this place is AMAZING!!! I live 3.5 hours away and every time I am anywhere near I make sure to stop, this time I was in Saratoga and drove 40 mins and it was wellllll worth the drive!!!!

Bought 2 fish dinners and had to throw them out...too much pepper, so hot from pepper, could not eat the food. The fried plantains were awful. The rice and pease was terrible. The chicken soup was very good....
These folks use to have much better food- don't know what happened?????
Never coming back at all!!!!

The central Ave location is certainly not it. They should just shut this one down and focus on Schenectady as I will never come here again. I got what I always order and it was disgusting. Salty jerk shrimp, bland rice and a teaspoon of cabbage. I am truly disappointed. Since they moved up the street the quality has been trash. Save your money and don't go there. Never again

I paid $10.11 for this?!

I cannot speak to to the quality of the food or service at any fixed Roy's locations, but I went to the food truck that parks outside West Capitol Park for the first and last time today.

Initially, I was going to visit another food truck for something quick and cheap because, but the line was long and the item I wanted was sold out. My next idea was to get an order of french fries, and the Roy's truck was the next closest truck to offer them. As I approached, I noticed the prices on the large menu board were not filled in.

I approached and asked if I could order just french fries. The woman working the truck obliged me and put french fries down into the fryer. When she asked me if I was paying cash or card and I told her card, it was only then that she pointed to a piece of 8.5 × 11.5 paper taped to the service window that indicated in semi-illegible handwriting that there was $8.00 minimum for card purchases. This note was also hard to notice because it was taped loosely such that it was flapping in the breeze.

Feeling that because she'd already put the fries down in the fryer, I was obligated to purchase the fries, I started to scan the large menu for something else I might want, but she interrupted to tell me that if I bought a drink, that would bring me to the $8 minimum. Here, I assumed the fries must be something link $5-6 and the drink (for me, a simple Pepsi cola) must be $2-3 which while spendy, was somewhat agreeable to me given the circumstances.

It was only after handing my card to the woman that before charging it, she stated the total would be $10.11. I was taken aback for a moment, but not being one for confrontation, reasoned to myself that I must be getting a decent serving of fries... It was not to be so. I received what would be considered at any standard deli or bodega a small fry, which should not have cost more than $5. Indeed, it was only after paying and being handed my fries that I noticed that the handwritten "$8 minimum" sign was merely the back of a paper menu, whereupon the fries were listed as being $4. If we account for sales tax, my subtotal would be about $9.36, and there's no way my 16.9-oz. bottle of Pepsi cola came out to $5.36.

I didn't get the quick or cheap that I wanted, and all I got for $10.11 was the image attached to this review--a small fry and a bottle of Pepsi. It's an absolute ripoff, but not one I was comfortable hashing out on the street with the server. The truck's prices were not listed in clear view, the $8 minimum for card purchases was also not posted in a way that was easy to see, and based on the paper menu I caught a glance of, I should not have been charged what I was charged.

The insult to injury? I waited to grab my soda as I was leaving the truck and it was practically warm. I will never go to this food truck again, and frankly, I don't think anybody else should either.

Love Roy’s to death, but this new one on Central Avenue is.. well.. not my favorite. Terrible customer service I’ve been given the wrong amount of change on multiple occasions, and now a burned Hard beef patty and frozen Cocoa bread !! again, I love uncle Roy and his family to death, but he needs to put his foot down on his new business and get it running properly
