Ruby City AYCE Dinner
Came here for the first time with my partner for dinner on Valentine’s Day, wanting to try out a new place for sushi since we love sushi but it was truly a disappointing experience. Highly not recommended. Service was lacking- there was only one person basically doing everything, and also wasn’t really doing the best. No communication in telling us how to order with no menu or neither asking us what we wanted to drink. Server seemed uninterested and took forever to bring out our food, even after we were trying to get her attention she would just walk right by us. Everything was very old and not very clean. There was zero ambiance and didn’t feel comfortable with tables so close to each other. The fish was clearly not fresh, with a strange texture and off-putting smell. The sushi had no flavor, and the rolls were falling apart. The food was nothing special at ALL. No need to come here and waste your money on terrible food. We lost our appetite and didn’t want to order nothing! This was completely inexcusable and I recommend going anywhere else for dinner. Very embarrassing. Even paying the check was terrible, adding their own tip without telling us and cash only to pay, if you pay with card you will need to pay there extra fee. I would definitely NOT recommend this spot if you’re looking for an authentic sushi experience! Will NEVER be coming back here again!

Th owner seemed super friendly at first but then started yelling at her employees, there was a new girl working that she kept getting so impatient with and it was super uncomfortable to listen to.

Ordered on Uber eats, food tasted decent but the quality is poor. I got sick the next day.

Friend lives in Albany and invited us up for starwars show we where hungry and she recommended sushi asked what was her favorite place she recommended Ruby City, from outside looked a bit more like takeout place but once inside was a amazing clean and quite atmosphere with nice seating orientation, then as it was my husband and I first time there but my friend goes all the time they gave us a quick rundown of how to order using QR code and how most sauces where home made and got to say crab Rangoon’s where amazing they had unique flavor that have not gotten by us, and all there rolls we had were excellent we just kept ordering more and more there rolls were exquisitely made and super fresh ingredients, owners where super kind and funny making some small talk with use and I would recommend to anyone in area or even if your not would say place is well worth the visit

Dietary restrictions: They asked if we hand any allergy’s before ordering

Very good food. All you can eat, but not a buffet, which is great. Excellent service. We have recommended Ruby City to many friends.

The Most Endearing Meal I've had at a restaurant, Period.

From the moment you step foot into this quaint little gem, you know your about to have an experience while dining at this restaurant. It's décor is tastefully Asian minimalist, with quality details subtly designed so that the food takes center stage.

My server Yuki was absolutely delightful. Her stern "encouragement" that I was not to work on my Ipad during my meal, so that I could enjoy their creations was something most people don't give a second thought to, and I'm glad I took her advice (otherwise she said they would charge me double for their All you could eat menu, which for the money was the most ridiculous price I've ever seen for the quality of food they serve). So I paid attention, and enjoyed some of the freshest and most flavorful Shushi I have had in some time.

If you are anywhere near this restaurant and enjoy Shushi or Ramen you won't find a better quality AND value then what Ruby City has to offer.

A Gem of a restaurant that will now be a mainstay for my many visits to the capital region. Don't take my word for it, go find out for yourself, you'll be glad you did.

Fantastic sushi spot right in the heart of Downtown Albany, the food was incredible, and the service was exceptional. I ordered both sushi and sashimi, and my wife ordered Ramen, everything was fresh and delicious! We will definitely be going back!

Love this place!!!
Best sushi I've had in years. Nice vibes. They spent a lot of time decorating the place nicely.
Few perks:
Each table has an outlet to charge your phone.
You order on your phone.
2 hour dining limit- it's all you can eat, so with that you have to limit the time..
Manager/owner is very nice. Staff are very helpful. There is a small parking lot on the side of the building.
This is one of my favorite places to go now. I love it there.

As soon as you walk in your greeted very friendly the seating looks like tiny houses, the food is beyond fresh ! Great portion servings. Truly a hidden gem I moved here from the city area and I must say it’s the same atmosphere and tasty food. I will make this my go to place for sushi/asian food. The AYE is great try the passion fruit green tea. Will come back 5 stars !

I don’t think the amount and quality of food I received via DoorDash were worth the cost. I’ve only ordered from this place once before, and the food was nothing special. This time, it was even worse. The food lacks flavor, particularly salt. The beef in my teriyaki beef dish was so tough I could barely chew it, and the teriyaki sauce was watery and bland. I also ordered a $2 side of spicy mayo, which I never received (and $2 is an outrageous price for spicy mayo). While I doubt this feedback will make a difference, I won’t be spending my money here again. It’s too much of a risk.

I came because I saw Tonkotsu Ramen on DoorDash and the photo of it showed a rich, creamy white broth.

Turned out the restaurant was close enough to actually just go instead of order dellivery. O show up and order Takoyaki and Tonkotsu Ramen. The Ramen broth was more yellow than white and the only flavor was onion. The pork flavor in the broth was nearly nonexistent. The Char Siu pork in the ramen tasted exactly of Kikkoman Teriyaki Marinade, rather than a homemade braising sauce. The Octopus in the Takoyaki was like a rubber bullet, not like normal octopus chewiness.

I went to pay the bill, very disappointed in the moment, when my Order and Tax were $25, but my bill was somehow $30. They included a mandatory tip on the bill without a spot to write your own tip. I do not consider that a tip. That is just the bill at that point. It was the cherry on top of a terrible experience.

I do not recommend this place based on 2 different items being poorly executed. If change is brought to the food and to the billing system, I would give another chance. Until then, I will look elsewhere and suggest you do, too, Reader.
