Went with my wife and was disappointed. Curly hair in our food and waitress seemed preoccupied. The atmosphere is 10/10 but definitely not worth the $ for this kind of service. The Hollow Bar and Kitchen is across the street and always provides us with a welcoming ambiance + great grub.

Stopped here for dinner in June. Service was slow and our waitress was quite rude. Ordered the lobster roll and found a dark curly hair on my plate. Drinks we ordered were mostly ice. Will not be returning.

Met 2 groups. One for a quick drink, another for dinner. Food was excellent. Service was a bit slow. Worst part was being seated at the center of the crowded area - we could barely have a conversation without yelling.

I had heard that the Steak was good so I decided I would go after work one day when it wasn't busy to have dinner. I was the only person sat down at a table, other than that there were a few people at the bar having drinks.I ordered a Ribeye Steak and also a Salad. I asked for my Steak to be cooked Medium-Well but that really doesn't constitute a 25 minute wait for my food. The salad came out the same time as the Steak and when I got the Steak it was quite tough and burnt.$42 for a Steak not including salad should be coming out near flawless. I've had Delmonico Steaks that were better than this Ribeye. They gave me 15% off of my bill and it was still expensive for the poor service I received and the quality of the food I got.I don't recommend at all. There are less expensive places with better quality food and service.

Very nice! Let’s start with the food! Fresh quality and creative menu. I came back 2 days in a row and enjoyed both of the meals I had . I had a massive juicy ribeye and the chef added some prawns as a compensation that there were no lobster tails. I also had the burned brussels sprouts Wi h were lovely. The next day I had the special, the grilled salmon with mustard sauce … it was a wonderful bouquet of flavours. Both days I ate at the bar and had a wonderful service and enjoyed some lovely wines by the glass. Food quality is value for money. It’s not cheap but you get value in return, aside from great service and a lovely environment. Hope I can return here some day. Great job !

I had the pleasure of trying The Bishop for the first time last night while the hubby and I were in Albany for the afternoon. He asked for steak and I had heard good things, so off we went.First things first- what pleasant staff! In a time where everyone is frazzled and short-staffed, they were all so lovely, from the moment we walked in until our goodbyes as we left a little over an hour later. Our waitress was also terrific. They were out of the beer we asked for and she made a great recommendation that my husband has now asked me to find closer to home. She checked on us regularly while still allowing us to enjoy our food and cleared space often so we had more room.Second, the atmosphere. Fun little details - from The Bishops stamped on the tables to the beautiful lounge in the downstairs ladies room - combined with a relaxed vibe make this a great place to spend some time. Finally, and some might say most importantly, the food. So good! The sauce on the bourbon shrimp appetizer had me eating more polenta after the shrimp was gone just to get some more of that yumminess. The chef cut - a shoulder - was cooked perfectly medium, very hard to do. It was accompanied by a side of bourbon sauce we added on. Different from the one on the shrimp, but equally delicious. The rice side was good, but our focus was on the steak anyway. I ordered the brisket mac and cheese. I had a different vision in mind than what was served, but the mac and cheese itself was perfect - great sauce! I thought the brisket would be shredded and mixed throughout; instead it was small cubes of slightly tougher meat. No biggie, as the hubby polished that part of the dish off, but good to know if you are thinking of ordering it.Overall, can't wait to come back and try new items. There is a crab and garlic sauce I can't wait to try on the steak next!Highly recommend a stop here if you haven't been.

We discovered this great local spot on a recent trip to Albany. It was a short walk from the Hilton. Great little downtown neighborhood. Very cool urban vibe. The place was almost empty when we walked in, but we were early. By the time we finished eating, it had filled up and it was almost full. We ordered a bottle of wine. There’s a nice wine list, but are far more well-known for bourbon and whiskey. Looked like they had a nice selection of beers on tap as well. I had a ribeye steak with shrimp and my wife had a salad with shrimp. Everything was very well done. I was amazed at the portion size. We could’ve easily split my steak and shrimp. The baked potato that came with my entrée was the size of three baked potatoes, but was delicious. I would highly recommend the bishop for a nice meal before a concert, or as a weekend treat.

We stopped in for dinner while in town. The room had a relaxed atmosphere feel , we were seated quickly. The waitress was knowledgeable and answered our menu questions. The onion soup was very good followed that with NY strip, crab and wild rice. Nice portions and cooked perfectly. Hope to visit again.

Stopped by during a conference in Albany at the Hilton. Even though they were out of some drinks and food items, Julia, our server, was awesome, and provided many other suggestions. Food was delishhhhh and the cocktails were also fantastic. Will be back for the food and Julia's service

Came here before a show at MVP arena for the first time. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks and the service was good. I liked the atmosphere with some fireplaces and cushy seats with pillows surrounding them.

Went on a Sunday around 11:30 for brunch. They had a DJ blaring music louder than most clubs. You could not talk to each other at your table and couldn't hear anything the waitress said. The space itself is nice. A clean and modern design. The food was alright. Everything we ordered was slightly warm and very salty. My Bloody Mary was not good. There was a half inch of salt, pepper and seasoning layered at the bottom of the glass. I felt like I was sipping the ocean. They really love salt here!!! They seem to draw in a young crowd. There were 2 large tables of girls screaming and dancing the entire time we were there. It was an odd brunch experience. ‍

After all the great reviews of the great service. I was severely disappointed. Waitress even admitted our order time had been over 40 minutes. We came in for a bite to eat before heading to The Kenmore Ballroom next door. The bar was full, there was a four top and 3 two tops. Not crowded!!! We waited for a good 10 minutes before the bartender took pity on us and took our drink order. Waitress finally arrived and we ordered food. 20 minutes later we had to flag waitress Down for a second cocktail. 20 minutes later we had to ask waitress about our food order. In the meantime, tables that came in after us were being served their food! Waitress said we were next and she would bring out our check too.... 10 minutes later I said we have to cancel our food order.... concert next door starts in 15 minutes. She said I'll have to check w manager. She came back with bill for our drinks. We paid and left. Manager never came out of kitchen to Apologize. We were polite to waitress, asked if they were understaffed... she said kitchen had 3 people and manager was helping out. Perhaps manager should be working the front to provide some customer service. CUTE PLACE tho.

The staff on 12/6 went ABOVE and BEYOND. The food was incredible and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The hostess, bartender, food runner, and entire team were friendly and knowledgeable. After another local establishment totally blew off our reservation and closed for a private party without notice, the Bishop staff was more amazing than we could have imagined. Top notch experience.

Wonderful service - cannot say enough about how amazing the people and food and drinks were. When a reservation at another local bar fell through - The Bishop stepped up and made sure we were accommodated before a show at the Palace Theater. They went above and beyond. The Nashville chicken sandwich was top notch.

First, I'd like to thank The Bishop for being able to accommodate our gigantic group of over 10 on a busy Sunday morning :D The food came out promptly, and I was glad for a limited brunch menu because I'm an extremely indecisive person. I got the Crab Egg Benny (and some mimosas of course). I liked that the homefries were crispy and golden rather than that sad brown color that they sometimes are. The plating was appetizing and the balance of the eggs benedict with superb--they really didn't skimp on the crab! BUT. Unfortunately, the eggs themselves were quite disappointing. When I get poached eggs, I expect the delicately encased egg yolks to burst and ooze their way onto my plate as I slice through the thin membrane of egg white. Both my eggs were more on the medium/hard boiled side, no ooze at all :( And I don't think it was a fluke, my friend got a poached egg on the side that was definitely hard boiled. So 4 stars only, I guess if you're not an egg snob like me you'd do okay though LOL. And my boyfriend got the burger and he was perfectly happy!
