The steamers I bought here were bad when I brought them home. The soft shell crabs were big and flavorful

Avoid this store!!! There is a terrible bully who works there now who used to work at the deli counter at The Food Emporium. A very bad attitude, just a bully. When I went to get fish, I saw him and walked right out! He is old and short and fat and makes believe he's a Marine (wears a US Marine hat, probably fake).

A REAL review of Albertson Seafood Market!Okay so I've been going here since the new ownership which is quite a number of years. It used to be Jericho Seafood but apparently there's been a change of the guard.I've read a one reviewer (a Google local guide actually which is sad that they are not properly educated regarding seafood) complain about lobsters not being fully cleaned since the FDA issued a warning in 2008 about Tomalley being toxic. Yes so can Apricots! But you don't go eating 100 Apricots in one sitting! Tomalley in American (Maine) lobsters contain a substance called polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) which in extremely large quantities can be toxic. Other than that eating the Tomalley of 1 or 2 lobsters certainly will not be a problem. So for that, shame on the reviewer for their bad review!I read another Google Guide review this place as if it were a 5 star restaurant writing about the wine and waiters! Are you kidding me? Do these reviewers pay attention to what place they are writing about? This is a seafood shop people! With that said, this place is CLEAN! The seafood is fresh (for the most part) and thee staff is helpful. NOW come holiday season, they need to check their orders better! They are so rushed, they miscount clams, mussels and shrimp when you pre-order. For now on I will insist on a count in front of me. 3 years in a row and I've been getting shorted. That's an average of $22 per year. I mention it and they offer to make up for it, I only ask that they use better processes to confirm the orders. That falls on deaf ears apparently.Once, I got a batch of bad mussels (oil and mud inside of about 10 of them) and I did tell them. Again I ate the loss (no I didn't eat the mussels, grow up). They do have a good selection and they are a bit pricy but for clean seafood, it is worth it. Based on my review I am sure you can understand why they are getting only 3 stars. If their count was always on the mark, they would receive better (always check your pre-orders before paying). With that said, I will always be going back for my holiday seafood.

My family had been regular customers and bought lobsters during the holidays for 20 years. I ordered two lobsters killed and cleaned. They left the tomalley (green stuff) inside and I did not see it until after it was cooked. The FDA warns not to eat tomalley as it is potentially toxic. When I called the store and explained the lobster was not completely cleaned, Giovanna would not listen to me and was not concerned at all with satisfying a longtime customer. I see the market has had a change in ownership and is no longer affiliated with Syosset Seafood. The store is also now poorly run when you try to pick up an order on the holidays. I will not return.

I wish I can give them a zero. I called in advance to get fish. I gave them my credit card number and asked how late they were open. I told them that I need curbside pick up and asked if they still do that. She said yes. For the past 2 years since covid, I have gone there many many times. Always I pay in advance and they come out and hand me the fish. So when I asked her today if they can do that she said yes. What she should have said is no and I would be ok with that since it is the holidays. I called from the car to say that I was outside and to give them my order number. Couldn't get through for 20 minutes. Then I got thtough only to be put on hold and hung up on repeatedly. When I finally got to speak to someone she said she would put me on hold to look for my order. Another 20 minutes. I am still waiting in the car outside looking at a long line to get in. I got hung up on again and a short time later she called me and told me that I need to get to the back of the line in order to get the fish. So I waited another 50 minutes on line now. Finally get to the door and ask for my order to be given to me outside. The woman who took my order said she is bringing it right away. Another 10 minutes wait. The fish was not even cleaned yet. I will never ever ever go there again. So much for supporting mom and pop stores through this pandemic. Shameful. And on top of all of this they gave me two old branzini and one fresh. Stunk up my kitchen. So we had one fish to share for 3 of us.
