This was our anniversary dinner. We heard good things, so we ordered sushi rolls and entrees. Our hibachi meals arrived, and we started eating, expecting the sushi. The server never checked on us until we were done; even then, we had to flag him down. We asked where the sushi was, and he seemed confused. By that point, we had been there for over an hour and just wanted to go home. He brought us the bill, and the sushi was marked as voided, so he knew we never received it. Not sure what happened, but it was very disappointing. The hibachi was good, but it's also good at many other restaurants in the Albany area.

Great online reviews but it's typical Chinese rendition of Japanese food. This area must not have great cuisine if this is the best Japanese spot in the area. Overall a very mid experience. Dark interior with blinds blocking the window in the afternoon. Wouldn't recommend to anyone driving up from the city.

Man you lose so much money on Monday night that we just go to Sushi Tei instead....that's a real novice business move...nothing like helping your competitors out massively...Sushi Tei was packed tonight as always on monday!

We had a joyous birthday celebration at my son’s favorite restaurant. Akanomi’s staff and sushi chefs, itamae, excelled at all endeavors. Vivan was spot on with her suggestions and service. She anticipated all of our needs, especially with our children. The chicken soba soup, tuna carpaccio and Hawaii Rolls were our favorites. Then the sashimi / sushi mixed roll party docked. It was stunning in presentation, offerings and taste. Oh my, it was very impressive. A most wonderful time was had by all.

Hands down the best sushi and hibachi around; once you try it, you will never go anywhere else ever again. We have come here for over 11 years and have seen the restaurant transform over the years, all while staying true to their original intimate ambiance. The owners (Vivian and her family) make us feel so at home here! Perfect for a causal outing, ordering for pick up (which we often do) or a fancy night out. They have something for everyone. Gorgeous plating, quick service, personable and friendly staff, impressively consistent food quality. We love Akanomi!!

Akanomi is considered one of the best sushi places in the Capital district. I was there on a Friday night and it was busy, 4 sushi chefs behind the counter. I think the turnover rate keeps their inventory pretty fresh. Recommend. Also, I had a miscommunication with the server, I ordered unagi sushi as one of the to-go items but an unagi don was made for me. $20 difference between the two menu items. I pointed this out. The owner came by and fixed the issue immediately. Really good customer service.
