First time customer. Ordered a red velvet cake for girlfriend’s bday - easily one of best red velvet cakes I’ve had. Peggy was responsive over email and easy to order from. This is my new spot, look forward to going back to try homemade baked goods and ordering cakes for special occasions going forward.

Staying in the area for a few days and stopped in for an egg sandwich this morning. Absolutely delicious. The bread was so fresh. The cutest little local spot for sweet treats, a quick bite to eat and fresh coffee!

BEST. CAKE. EVER. If you haven't ordered a cake from Peg, please go do so immediately. (For more on the cake you can skip down to the paragraph that starts with "There are NO WORDS...") I also had the best service. I live in San Francisco and needed to find a place to bake a birthday cake for my mother-in-law's 90th birthday party. 24 people were gathering at Interlaken Inn to celebrate. I reached out to about 3 places and Peg got back to me immediately--all via email. Through email I told her we wanted a chocolate cake with fresh fruit and whip cream in the middle. She said she needed to make two 9" rounds to feed the 24 of us. I picked up the cake on Saturday afternoon and asked for two sandwiches to go (turkey)) and they were both delicious, FYI! Saturday evening we celebrated at the Millerton Inn Restaurant. The kitchen put a candle on the cake (we had forgotten!) and after we sang Happy Birthday they cut the cakes and handed out the slices. There are NO WORDS to describe how much every single person in our group raved over this cake! It was super moist. The fresh fruit brought a lovely light acidity to the chocolate, and the whip cream was light and not too sweet. The cake wasn't too sweet either. My stepdaughter's husband actually never eats cake because he thinks it is too sweet and honestly, we couldn't stop him from seconds (and thirds) and each time he was in awe of how much he loved it! It was incredibly rewarding for me to see everyone so happy with the cake! Peg--THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You're a baking genius. I'm only sad I can't get your cakes in San Francisco. And if any of this sounds like hyperbole, I assure you it is not. If anything, I haven't done a proper job describing the love your cake engendered.

What a great hole in the wall! You might miss the ground-level front door under the metal fire-escape steps if there weren't some regulars sipping cappucinos at the one sidewalk table to point the door out to you. Once you step in, it's cozy as a cave. And it smells like the kitchen of that aunt you have who cooks better than your mother. It's all your favorites your mother makes you, just somehow much better looking, smelling, and tasting. So, Peggy's offerings are at once ordinary and extraordinary, but in a homey rather than bougie way. Why is that strawberry rubharb muffin so deliciious? What's so good about this egg sandwich? God, I wish they hadn't run out of that frittata. Next time!

Formerly called the Back Kitchen, but since 2021 Peggy's Sweet and Savory is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch under this new name. And what a great hole in the wall! Always a pleasure. Cozy, exquisite bites and coffee. Peggy, the new owner, prepped coffee for me a day she was not open due to covid labor shortage . Best in town/area.

I drove all the way from Rhinebeck to try this cafe. It was well worth the drive. Coffee was delicious and the sweets were a bonus. Cider doughnut was amazing. Will definitely return. A great find.
