The Best Greek food around- ask for the Saganaki ! And the Chicken Islander

First the server was incapable(unknowledgeable) of the Greek dishes on the menu and it was as if iI was speaking a foreign language(I was—English)Unauthentic from hard pocket pita instead of pillowy soft bubbly airy served flat on a plate with zero dip(eg: tzatziki or hummus). She decided to change my seat preference despite my cat on the chair at the table of MY preference then brought out water with no ice and had to request it because who wants room temp H2O? Lentil and avgolemono soups both like BOWLS of SALT soups —inedible. At that point I walked out fearing the main dish would be a high priced gamble whether that too would be unauthentic and inedible and overpriced. Funny, but the server knew in advance the second soup would be just as bad as the first and of course I wasn’t going to like either. Perhaps other patrons expressed the same salt OVERLOAD in their past visits to Athena. Ironically, the other waiter/manager said neither was watery and they both were THIN no vegs but for bits and pieces of carrots(cheap), no orzo, no CHICKEN, no rice or orzo either. I can’t believe it’s still in business. I was told on the phone that soup AND salad were included only to find out it was either/or not both. Once again another mistake, another reason not to come back to so many numerous misconceptions put forth as the truth. That server needs to be able to communicate with customers, otherwise she’s USELESS to the business, not being able to explain anything on the menu certainly doesn’t coax the customer to try new or additional items. Adios Athena, adios. No reason to be here.

Athena is always fresh delicious authentic Greek food! They always take great care of us. The Greek wine specials are very reasonable, and we have never had a bad meal. The hummus is fantastic and I love their Greek salad.

By far one of the best Greek restaurants on the island! I’ve been going here for years and it’s consistently amazing every time. No where else compares! Totally worth the 45 min drive for us !

We used to go there all the time, Kovid changed some thing we just revisited the other day and everything was perfect The food and service Is excellent. Compliments to the owner , the chef and the server. I recommend 👍👍

Geez I haven’t been here in a while. I forgot how delicious the food is here. I picked up 2 Greek salads OMG delicious great service and the owner is soooo nice. Ohh and the packing is u take out almost like it’s being gift wrapped lol Don’t miss out GO!!!

Never again. Ordered take out and after getting home was not my order. $70 later was told you have good food there enjoy we will credit you the difference next time you call. Will never call again, not 1 item placed was in order given. Customer service is pathetic. Don’t live close to Restaurant, not even an offer to give us correct order and drop it off.

I come here all the time and I love the food. It’s my second review for Athena. It keeps getting better and better. I chose to come tonight rather than eat outside on this beautiful summer night because the food is that good. No exaggeration here, try the spanakopita, Greek salad with lamb and filet Athena.
Outstanding greek food dine in or eat out. A cozy dining g area with a freindly and attentive staff. I highly recommend it.

My wife and I have been going to Athena for years. We used to drive all the way from Queens. We now drive from Nassau. The food is always excellent. The humus is the best anywhere and that includes Greek restaurants in Queens.Owner is always friendly. Always busy. Does a huge take out business.
