Cappies has been our go-to local food option since they've opened this spring! First and foremost, THE FOOD! Everything is handmade or fresh cut! - the Mozzarella Sticks alone are worth the visit! They are enormous and very consistent week to week - You can almost bash someone with these things! They have daily specials on burgers, tacos etc that we always take advantage of! They also add specialty items every now and again. My personal favorite is the Honey Hot Chicken Sandwich! My wife LOVES the Buffalo Chicken Wrap that's always on the menu and the Turkey Avocado wrap. I frequent the massive hand-breaded Chicken Tenders and handmade Cheeseburgers w/ fresh-cut Fries all the time.
You are crazy to not give the place a try. The staff is super friendly from managers, to the wait staff, right down the the cooks! Online ordering from their website is SUPER EASY, quick and convenient... And i guess to wrap things up, they truly seem to care! Every time we are there they sincerely ask how things were (last time from a pickup) or are (while we are there). Not many businesses do this. Just a great hometown place to eat! Nothing less than 5 stars!

Sorry, but the changes you have made aren't hitting a home run with this local patron....changes to the ice cream flavors and the quality/quantity of food meant that I only visited once this summer. The sundae I had was very small and had hardly any fudge. We used to go weekly. Now we go elsewhere. The service was good, however.

Two tacos on Tuesdays for $5! I like the bang bang shrimp. But they have many other specials. You should give this place a try.

New menu, adult beverages, overpriced !!
My first time here and I would definitely come back . Has that diner feel and a positive atmosphere. Food is reasonably priced. And the portions are great . Our server was very knowledgeable with the menu and her recommendations . The restaurant & bathrooms were clean .

Good food, nice clean dining room, and good service. Had the Italian Cheesesteak sandwich - excellent. They offered vegetables to substitute for the French fries - my mom would be proud ?.

Best fried chicken I can recall ever having. Staff was super nice and helpful. Giant portions. I only wish we’d had room to have ice cream, but we were all full.

It's been so sad to see all the drama surrounding this place lately. Having grown up with Cappie's, and my dad and grandfather having been friends with Cappie himself, I've always held such a fondness in my heart for this spot.
As have most locals.
Sure, when a new owner comes in, they're going to make changes. Sometimes they'll be good ones. Sounds like some of the menu items have gotten a little better, and adding variety is always a good thing. Except when it's to the detriment of tradition.
You see, when these people bought Cappie's, they didn't just buy a restaurant. They bought tradition. They bought ice cream for kids after a game. They bought the summer memories of thousands of people. They bought the respect of the Cappie's name. They bought the values brought in by Cappie, Donna, Kim, and all the summer-job kids, plus the whole Cappie's family.
Then, they added booze, removed long-standing best-selling menu items (Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream, anyone?), raised prices even more, unrelentingly and baselessly fired Kim (an employee for nearly 50 years), and repeatedly get nasty with customers and critics both online and off.
I dare anyone to agree that were someone to buy Jumpin' Jack's in Scotia and make these kinds of changes, that the community far and wide wouldn't revolt. I drive by Cappie's now, and the parking lot is bare. Proof is in the parking.
This is NOT Cappie's. It's not his legacy. It doesn't deserve to bear the Cappie's name. Does it deserve a chance to have a great restaurant in that location? Sure. But the name needs changing. The concept needs to be completely overhauled. And apologies need to be made to the public. Period.
