Authentic Japanese cuisine at the highest level of execution. The omakase is an amazing journey through exquisite dishes. The quality of the fish selection is outstanding and the preparations are excellent! Sazan is owner operated and the service is respectful.

This is the most authentic Japanese restaurant in the area, period. Truly fresh fish, homemade tofu, sea eel and a variety of dishes I’ve never seen anywhere in NY. If you come here, let go of your American expectations and embrace real Japanese culture. I’m a mom, but know that it’s common for restaurants in Japan to exclude small children to create a peaceful dining space for others. So, the comments below is cultural ignorance, frankly. If you want to eat with your kids, there are plenty of lower quality options walking distance away.

Took a look at the menu and realize they cover a lot of ground of Japanese cuisine, five of us had dinner tonight and each of us enjoyed our meal. Japanese food is much more than sushi and hibachi. Instead of a meal, I enjoyed the large, appetizer style menu (69 items,) Which allows me to order many different things. I started with beef negimaki and the beef was very tender nicely cooked and well flavored. Followed that with cold soba noodles which was very light and delicious. My final course was the pork belly with a spicy mustard and it was unctuous as pork belly tends to be. My dining mates enjoyed beef negimaki as a main, chicken teriyaki, chicken Katsu, and the 4th had pork cutlet and ginger, and to a diner, they ate everything, really enjoyed it And each said they will be back. The service was great very Asian, and that you simply raise your hand and they brought you whatever you wanted. And the ambience was very typical Japanese simple, straight lines very clean, and enjoyable.

First time and upon entering i saw a family get rejected because they had a service dog. Also, no children under 6 allowed..very strange. Onto the meal…The appetizers were nothing special. Had the tempura shrimp, fried squid and mixed seafood w/ soybean sauce. I found the squid and octupus hard and chewy. The sushi and sashimi combos on the other hand were very good and the fish was fresh. It was a bit pricy but the overall good quality.

Food is very good. But the waitress/hostess is very rude and arrogant. She always gets the order incorrect as well. Then gets mad at customer. I’ve seen this same review by others saying same thing about this women and the owner should do something about it. It just isn’t necessary to have rude servers at such a great restaurant. I also witness her telling people they are closed at 1:30 for lunch when the owner is not there. I will not spend more money for terrible attitude from waitress any longer. I don’t think other will either.

The soba noodles are insanely good. I get the ones with seafood. The cold ones with dipping sauce are also good. They serve an extensive menu with a lot of things I have never heard of but I everything I have had has been legit and delicious. Probably the most authentic traditional Japanese restaurant in Westchester

I've been looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant in Westchester. Sazan is it. The cha-soba noodles in their Ten Zaru had just the right chewiness and a mild, pleasant flavor. The ebi-ten tasted like shrimp. I look forward to going back and exploring the rest of their menu.

Real authentic Japanese. Exquisite and delicate flavors that challenge any outstanding sushi or udon I’ve had in the city. Our family’s absolute favorite in Westchester county. We have enjoyed the Omakase more than once on special occasions and it is AMAZING.

We have been eating here for more than a decade, tolerating the unwelcoming staff, depressing decor & high prices because the sushi is of high quality. But last night was the final straw. The rude server/hostess reluctantly seated my wife and me at the empty sushi bar after warning us we would now have to pay a minimum of $85 per person. No problem. But after ordering drinks and appetizers, more new rules were revealed to us: the $85 minimum is for sushi only and does not include our drinks or appetizers or any other food, including (inexplicably) sashimi. Furthermore if one of us goes above the minimum, the extra amount can not be applied to the other person. When we asked the server to please clarify the rules, she threw the sushi menus down at us and exclaimed “I told you already. Figure it out!” This is when we got up & left the restaurant for good.

This is the best sushi in Westchester. No frills high quality fish, courteous professional perfect service. Straight forward beverage program. Excellent pacing for omakase even seated in the dining room. This is for people who appreciate the art of sushi and Japanese cuisine. Can't wait to come again.
