One of the owners was yelling at a waiter about seating us inside, and another staff member didn’t communicate clearly, which made the experience confusing and uncomfortable. The food was good, but the atmosphere was not family-friendly or welcoming.

This was my second visit to Agnanti. The first time, I came with two friends—one of them half Greek. She spoke to the staff in Greek, ordered for the table, and everything was great.
Last night, I returned alone after a long day, hoping to enjoy some comfort food in a quiet spot. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only two tables occupied inside. I politely asked a server— a woman with long dark hair and a visible gap between her front teeth—if I could sit at a 4-person table for more space. It wasn’t a demand, just a respectful request.
She gave me attitude right away and walked back inside, loudly complaining in Greek to someone. What she didn’t realize is that I could understand a few words—enough to know she was upset about my seating request. It felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable.
She didn’t return to my table. Instead, she sent another server to take my order. Later, she returned to serve two new tables near me but completely ignored mine for the rest of the evening. I stayed for about an hour. The restaurant remained half empty the entire time.
As someone who works in hospitality, I know firsthand that personal frustrations should never interfere with how a guest is treated. I left feeling disappointed and disrespected.
The food was still good, but unfortunately, the service made it hard to enjoy. Not coming back!

The waitress was very kind and attentive, which made a great impression. The calamari were fresh and absolutely delicious, and the Greek salad was perfectly authentic. The highlight was the cheese with honey – better than any dessert, a true delicacy. Highly recommended!

Our dinner was very disappointing. Although the location is great near Astoria Park, the food did not resemble anything close to authentic Greek cuisine. The waiter was a bit arrogant.
This is a MUST VISIT restaurant in Astoria. Never have I had better food and service from some of the friendliest, most gracious people in the foodservice industry. Since this was my first experience with Greek cuisine, I was a bit apprehensive about trying it but I will never regret my decision to do so. The location is decorated in authentic Greek fashion and the food and service are top notch! One could even close their eyes, taste the food, and believe that they are actually in Greece. I very strongly recommend that anyone who is in the area, go to Agnanti and be fed and treated like a king or queen. You will never regret that decision.

THE SERVICE WE RECEIVED WAS BASIC. SADLY, IN THIS DECADE, AS A BLACK WOMAN, I FIND THAT TO BE THE CASE OFTEN WHEN I VISIT SOME OF THE "ETHNIC" ESTABLISHMENTS. THEY USUALLY WARM UP TO ME ONCE THEY RECEIVE MY GOOD ENERGY, & I THEN BECOME "NON-THREATENING" OR WHATEVER... WHICH WAS THE CASE WITH THE GIRL WHO SERVED US. SHE BECAME SLIGHTLY MORE ATTENTIVE AS THE MINUTES PASSED. THE GRILLED PORK CHOPS WERE DELICIOUS BUT THE SPRINKLE OF "SALT" ON TOP WAS NOT NECESSARY. I SCRAPED IT OFF. THE CHOCOLATEY DESSERTS WERE DELICIOUS ALSO.
