Firstly, I'm glad they are around. Legitimate neighbourhood business founded on quality. The atmosphere is good and the staff helpful, and the beers of course are tasteful and various. That being said, I don't find myself coming often because, though I want to, there is usually at least one vegan in my group and their menu does not do much to accommodate. Secondly, I appreciate their stocked table and pantry goods. It's nice to pick up something on a whim. However, their markup on these goods is eye-watering. Sometimes 70-100% more than the average cost of the same items elsewhere. If they addressed these two shortcomings I'd likely be back in here more often.

Each item on the menu delivered on its promise. The employees were properly attentive. We didn't wait unnecessarily. The restaurant goes the extra distance. My visits will continue indefinitely.

Great vibe! It was music trivia night. Very welcoming bartenders. We chose LOCAL and went with a NYC Harlem Renaissance Wit pint. It is beyond expectations. The food menu has many options that look very appetizing. I'd come back to try the Roast Pork Banh Mi. There are also many items that you can purchase within, and you should definitely try the truffle sea salt.

My retired dad is visiting.

He spent his career traveling across the country grading cheese and dairy products on quality.

He was excited to come here with me and ask staff if they carried Tillamooks 2014 sharp cheddar for which they one best in class sharp cheddar in the World Cheese Awards.

My dad did ask.

I could only describe the man's smile and words back to my dad as condescending as he told him to go to the grocery store down the street. Even as my dad continued to explain that he hasn't been able to find it anywhere since the award.

Downright pretentious, dismissive, and not to mention unknowledgeable. Man heard Tillamook and stopped listening, had no idea what my dad was talking about because he stopped listening, even gave me pretty bad service while I bought a Harbison.

We get that Tillamook is no Jasper Hill but really???

I've been to this cheese shop countless times now that the one on Broadway closed and there was always something weird about it. I've spent plenty.

Don't know if it's something about how my dad looks but do they want our money or not?

You're better off making the hike to Spitfire in Midtown or Stand Alone on Jackson Heights if you don't feel like being belittled.

Astoria offers a great spot for high-quality beer, complemented by incredible cheese and bread options. My group of four ordered a large charcuterie board, which was beautifully presented but modest in portion size for the $21 price tag. I also tried the “Figgy Piggy” sandwich, which was flavorful and satisfying, priced at $14 and served promptly after payment.

One concern I’d like to raise is the $2 uncanning fee for consuming drinks on-site. While I understand operational costs like rent, it was unexpected and contributed to a total of $41 for a sandwich, two beers, and tips, which felt excessive.

That said, the overall vibe and quality make this a place I’d return to, but clearer pricing details or a more transparent policy on additional fees would enhance the experience.

Great artisanal cheese and beer establishment. Unique products and merchandise. Large selection of craft Brewery concoctions. Most available in cans for Take Out. Patio seating and some limited bar stools. Some events and tastings available. Close to public transportation with some limited parking in this residential neighborhood.
