I almost don't want to write this review because I want to keep them a secret, but this cafe is such a gem in the Astoria neighborhood. Best baked goods and a great drink menu with seasonal options as well! I'm a huge pastry person and the owner bakes all of the yummy items you see in the display. The barista is also super nice and remembers all my random customizations for sweetness :)

They also have dog treats if you're picking up your order...

Of all the coffee and pastry shops popping up in Astoria, many are good, few are great, and only one rises above the rest to be a true original. Make Believe bakeshop has fantastic baked goods, with solid flavors that exceed expectations. I had a pumpkin walnut scone and it was both rich and nuanced with spices and flavors that were a delight and unexpectedly complex. The drip coffee here has great notes and taste. This place is incredible. The baked goods are DELICIOUS. Chocolate chip cookies, babka, and the seasonal apple cider donut muffin are favorites. The coffee is one of my favorites, and the lattes are flavorful and not too sweet. Friendly staff and a welcoming environment, what’s not to love?
