Very Disappointing Experience
Walked all the way to Poke Wave on Friday, November 6, 2024, at 12:30 PM, only to find them closed. According to their posted hours, they should be open from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. I was really looking forward to eating a poke bowl, but this was a letdown. If their hours are subject to change, they should update their customers accordingly. I even tried calling, but no one answered the phone.

A hidden gem in Astoria! That Place is tucked into a peaceful room behind a poke bowl counter, and you'd never guess that the space was hiding such a tasty treat. The fish was fresh and delicious, lovingly prepared, with a good variety and options to add extras, like uni. We had the shorter 14-course menu, but nearby diners had ordered the longer menu, which included a couple of additional appetizers and some other mains, including a wagyu bite. Service was attentive but never intrusive; they kept our sake topped up and even surprised us with a slice of birthday cake at the end of the meal! While these sorts of menus are never cheap, I found the price quite reasonable for what we got. This is a great option for a special night out.
Wonderful experience as soon as we walked in the door until the time we left. We were greeted with friendly smiles and shown to our seats at the counter right away. Introductions to the sushi chef and server were made and we were on our way to delicious course after course. The presentation of our 14 course omakase was beautiful. There was unlimited sake, which we asked them to stop refilling after a while ?. They even gave me a complimentary cheesecake dessert, even though the only special occasion was visiting my daughter. Much appreciated though!
JT, the co-owner, showed amazing customer service and was super friendly! The food was high quality and for a great value. Restaurant is intimate. Great for dates and small gatherings. Highly recommend. You won't be disappointed. Please note the actual restaurant is in the back. You have to walk through the Poke Wave to find That Place. A total vibe! We will be back!
That Place Omakase is an experience you will never forget. It is the best Omakase in Queens and absolutely one of the best in New York City. I absolutely recommend anyone to try this gem. Shoutout to JT and his crew for always hosting an unforgettable experience.
This was a great experience, we had such a great time, food was amazing and service was top. Will recommend this place if you like omakase. They have 3 different experiences to pick out of.
Edit: it seems others agreed since this place no longer exists. This is a sad review for me, as it's been a go-to lunch spot for a little bit now. This place used to be decent, even with blatant false advertising everywhere, painted on their walls and printed on all of their even newer menus they keep putting out.Today I picked up some food here for my partner and I. As I was eating mine, my partner asks me to taste hers , so I do. It was rancid, very obviously spoiled. I'm not sure what exactly was giving the taste, but I took both meals and explained this to them. They tried making me a new one, to which I said I just wanted refund for the order because I didn't want to chance being sick. The older lady sat there and argued with me, trying to tell me that we ate "most of it" and they would not give a refund when my partner had taken a couple bites and myself one from hers. Mine was maybe a 16th gone before she told me to stop eating. She brought in who I believe to be her son who also insulted me stating that "my story didn't add up". What story? The food tastes rancid, we want a refund. Plain and simple. After a while of them arguing with me, trying my best not to argue back while customers were in their restaurant, they finally gave me what I think was a refund (we'll see).Needless to say, we will not be eating here anymore, and I would suggest caution if you decide to do so, since it is raw fish.
I love Pokewave. Amazing healthy options here! There's a secret 'sneak easy' option in the back. I also love their lunch special option.

The food is delicious and the staff is very sweet. But there’s been multiple occasions where my order was wrong. I don’t notice until I get home and it’s already too late to fix it. Please please pay more attention to the paper with the toppings selected. The food isn’t cheap and it’s disappointing because this is easy to avoid.
Amazing, fresh and tasty food.
Also Wilma was very friendly.
Literally the best poké place on the planet. If they were to close I would be devastated. 11/10 stars.
The best poke bowl I have had so far, it had the perfect amount of portions and left me really satisfied! I also enjoyed there unique selection of drinks and will be back to try them all
