We arrived 10 minutes B4 10:00 opening and were asked to leave and come back. It was a gamble, given the neighborhood competition! We window-shopped pastries and bagels, but were determined to return for a more delectable & delicious meal. So worth the wait! The spicy Brussel Sprouts salad was creative, layered with flavor and just delicious! The Benedicts had poppin’ poached eggs and a delicate, lemony Hollandaise. Avocado toast was topped with goodies but kept forward the toasty crunch and creamy avocado base. A cheery cherry spritzer with rosemary sprig was beyond delicious- a must! We will be returning again and again to this gem of a spot. Highly recommend!

I was there with a date, and ordered 6 drinks. The bartender, Nika, was constantly being interruptive but I payed no attention. When I finally closed the tab, (and included the tip), she said that if we are not drinking anymore then we have to leave. I told her that no place has such a policy to kick out a paying customer, and that I had just spent over $60 and wanted to continue my date. She replied, "It's only $60." She threatened to call the bouncer, to which I replied that I would like to personally speak with him myself. I spoke with the bouncer, who was polite and even shook my hand, because he understood the situation and that the bartender was being extremely rude. I am not sure if it was a racial issue, or why she had it out for us.

Bartenders like this, who feel a sense of superiority, should not be working with customers.

The hostess told me there was no available seating so they told me to hang out by the bar, then the person running around taking orders tells me I can’t stand where I was told to stand because it’s the prep area or some non-sense like that. Why even tell me tell to stand there, I left. The crowd is too old for my taste anyway.

After a long day, for a first date, for a quiet anniversary, the Sweet Afton’s atmosphere, cocktail and food qualities are endlessly underrated!! Get the pickles, philly steak patty melt and mac n cheese, drink whatever fits the feel, the music and vibe is soothing and bubbling. A MUST for all locals.
