We went to Taverna Kyclades on Ditmars on a Friday night, knowing there’d be a wait. The hostess told us 30–40 minutes, but after over an hour, we came back only to be told our name wasn’t on the list. Realizing we’d been skipped, she quickly got us seated.

The space was tight, with staff squeezing past each other. Service was just okay—our table got minimal attention, while others nearby were treated far better.

The food was decent but not memorable. Veggie chips were overly lemony, and the pork souvlaki was just fine. Overall, it wasn’t bad, but I can’t see myself going back any time soon.

This is our go to place for Greek food even though it’s a 50 minute drive. Consistently great food and service. Only thing is it’s way too small and crowded. Love the grilled octopus and fried calamari

I love the food at this place it’s just unfortunate the last 2 times I’ve tried to come here they’ve looked at me an my partner like we were shit on a stick. The first time we were turned away last summer I was refused completely and told the kitchen was closed but I heard them tell the couple in front of us it was a 30 min wait so I was a little stunned but didn’t think much of it I just went across the street to my favorite spot Tufinos. Now fast forward I arrived yesterday 2/13/2026 around 7pm and was told about a 30 min Wait by the host and I absolutely had no problem waiting but then this women I’m thinking maybe a manager or another host tall face full of make up walks up to the host that I’m speaking to looks me and my partner up and down with a face of disgust and says no it’s 45min to an hour. So I look at my partner for confirmation that we both saw the same thing and his face confirmed what I was thinking so we both walked out. I’ve never in my life felt so discriminated against what could be the reason we would be treated the way we were if it wasn’t because the color of our skin or the fact that we are Hispanic there was literally one reason we were dressed casual which shouldn’t even matter because there’s no dress code and they didn’t mention needing a reservation so why ? Why have we been turned away twice ? To drive over an hour to eat at a place we once loved is a punch in the gut and I hope they see this and do something about it. It’s sad when these restaurants get so popular that they forget what customer service is. Even though the whole experience was disappointing we didn’t let it put a damper on our night and went across the street and blessed tufinos whose customer service is absolutely amazing and food is even more so. TAVERNA DO BETTER !

Great food. When we returned to Manhattan with a bag of leftovers, someone stopped us to ask if we had gone to Kyclades, and we spent the next twenty minutes talking about it with him. And the leftovers were great, too. Loved everything about it.

Food was very good, service was rushed (they're turning over tables like McDonald's), and it's loud and lively because the place is small and they try to fit in as many tables as they can. Be prepared to share another group's germs because the tables are separated by a small gap, and unfortunately the loudmouth's dull conversation across from me (also the cougher).

We came with no expectations, just to enjoy a quiet evening together, and ended up having a really lovely night.
Even though the place was full and we didn’t have a reservation, they quickly offered us seats at the bar, which was a great start.
We shared the house salad and a snapper—both delicious—and the rosé sangria was excellent. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Definitely a place worth coming back to.

I have eaten here many times before. Mostly take out. No complaints. This time , my scallops had sand in them. Couldn’t eat the dish. Had to come back 3 times to credit my card. Did return once more for sit down but fish I ordered was burnt. I understand they changed management. Won’t be eating here again.

No consistency. See attached picture of a $50 red snapper. That was last week. Who knows what I’d get next time I order red snapper. Something similar happened when I ordered grilled salmon -lunch special. I also suspect they re-serve the bread. I got cold and old bread (perhaps picked up from previous tables) while most of the times it is warm and fresh Not consistent. GET IT TOGETHER!
PS: waiters and waitresses are nice.
