Very good local bar. Have had wings, burgers, meatloaf and all very good at reasonable prices. Great beer selection on tap. Good for family with lots of choices on menu. Servers always nice and efficient. Can’t wait till summer comes and can use outside eating area!

I truly hate to write this review, but they really let themselves go. Unsure what’s happened here besides the lack of care. Hope to save someone else the trip

Beer:
buddy ordered a Guinness. The one bartender there goes to pour completely incorrectly. Literally, down poured the whole thing all the way to the top. Didn’t even let it settle. The beer was brown when it was served to us.

Everyone knows it’s 3/4 down poured at 45 degrees. Settle for 90 sec minimum. Then up pour 90 degrees to fill. Settle again until head formed. How is this not a requirement when you have it on tap. I likely should have called it after that pour.

Food:
-The whole menu screams frozen and fried to order. I would take a high bet 80% is frozen and from restaurant depot.
-normally for a dive bar, this would be fine. But $20+ pricing on some is outrageous when I can go to Walmart freezer section and air fry the same thing

To highlight - my buddy ordered the French dip sandwich and I ordered the salad

French dip -
The great value sponge bread sub roll UNTOASTED COLD with 4 slices of deli meat that was send in the broiler with Swiss cheese, then placed into the cold sponge bread. How can you not use FRENCH baguette for a FRENCH dip??? The “auju” was 100% instant gravy packet. Besides being 80% bread, I was in shock the chef didn’t even try with this one. How much more is a baguette to sponge bread? It’s CENTS. It’s BREAD.

The salad-
Looked straight out of the “pre mix salad bags” you get at walmart with 4 strings of pre cut cheese on top. Maybe this isn’t what you order at this type of place.

It was BOGO beers, we didn’t even stick around for our free beer we wanted out. If you like freezer bag food shoved into the fryers, by all means, come on in. Brown Guinnesses for everyone

We arrived at The Brickyard Tavern at 4pm on a Saturday. Only one high-top had 2 customers at it and there was 1 person at the bar, who turned out to obviously be a 'regular'. He was vocal about his standing in the establishment volume wise and also as we departed with an inappropriate comment clearly showing he was intoxicaxted, which could have ended differently had my 6'5, 280 lb. husband chosen to address it. Such restraint! Anyway, full disclosure I'm a Doordash driver and have been here several times for deliveries AND the only reason we came here for a meal is that we received a gift certificate for here in Christmas of 2023 that we really needed to use. The place has always had a decent crowd, so one would assume they're doing something right, right? Personally, I think they're surviving because they're one of a few restaurants in a very small town (population 5100).
When you walk through the entry way to get to the door, you walk through the 'patio'. Forgive me I forgot to take pic but you are NOT missing anything. The space would be wonderful if it was used right. Instead it has 5 round metal tables with a few chairs strewn around. No upkeep at all. I've been a Doordash driver for 4-5 years and it's always looked this way. Inside isn't very inviting either, but it is clean. There isn't any natural light other than the 3 window across the front of the building. Seeing as the restaurant runs deep and not wide, both natural and electric lighting is poor. The seating available is the bar or high-top tables unless you call to reserve one of the 3 standard tables in the back of the restaurant that are situated between the hallway to the restrooms on one side and the hallway/area the waitresses use to the kitchen on the other. As for the meal. The menu was all over the place. In that I mean that they had everything from wontons to Mexican to meatloaf to pizza and everything in between! To the point you really don't have a clue how fresh things are or what they're micro defrosting to cook on the spot. We decided to do something we've never done before because we didn't really care for setting, the menu or Roger the regular at the bar so we ordered to go and had drinks and an app there. I ordered a whiskey sour, hubby had 2 Michelobe Ultra. He was safe, I ended up having 2, which were like completely different drinks with neither 'right'. Now we had to use the gift certificate or we really would have not stayed. Hubby ordered steak sandwich with peppers, onions and sauce, with a container to go. lol I ordered safe and got fried dumplings with sweet/spicy sauce, because I knew they would be frozen, for the restaurant and a capresse salad to go. Dumplings were as expected, frozen and dipping sauce bottled but for $13 I'd rather have had them at home in the air fryer than oil. $20 steak sandwich with fries had decent flavor but very small for the price. Hubby said that while it wasn't the worst, there are other places that he would much rather have. My salad was actually pretty good. Everything was fresh, balsamic vinegaret was good, portion was huge and price was great at $16. While I wouldn't go back to the restaurant itself, I would get the salad again.
Now the kicker of the visit was the bill and the gift certificate that was for $100. The bill came to $91+. Most establishments will give you cash back if there is less than $10 left on the certificate. It was just going to be part of the waitresses tip. Not here! They don't refund any of the balance of a gift certificate in cash no matter how small it is. I was dumbfounded. So we had to order a dessert for $7 because we didn't want to forfeit the cash and we were definitely not going back. Most likely the piece of pie we bought will get thrown out and it's a shame. Their 'policy' didn't work for them, us or their employee, because that policy sadly had a trickle down effect as far as their business pra

Wings are always fantastic and the Bogo on Tuesdays for beer is just icing on the cake, pizza is good too. Had the molten lava cake but minus the molten part, it was over cooked. Staff at the bar are always prompt with refilling drinks and are friendly.

Stopped here for a friday night bite to eat with my son. We had a nice seat outside. The service was excellent and probably the best burger I have ever had. Draft IPA fresh and cool! My son enjoyed his ckn parm grilled cheese sandwitch. A casual pub with great food in a quaint villiage. Highly recommend!
