Most mediocre forgettable sandwich I've hand in a looong time must be a bunch of long islanders leaving good reviews cause this sandwich was a 4 out of 10 at best a 5 bread wasn't good roast beef made in house is amongst the most bland and forgettable I've ever had mac and cheese bites were so mediocre and so over priced and a 5 out of 10 as well mediocre and forgettable with a bad sauce on the side if you're from the city or know what good food and a great sandwich is SAVE your money for better food cause this is over priced trash

Not a fan . I read all the great reviews and stopped in. Took forever for 2 sandwiches. The sandwiches were not great. Only plus there is the friendly staff

Best experience ever, 4 buddies and I missed our ferry to fire island, so we decided to stroll through town. Multiple stops and turns, we felt lost with no destination. Until Frankie found this magnificent place. What a beautiful find, as soon as I walked in I noticed the Johnny chopped cheese and it brought me back to the early days of my life in Brooklyn.

AMAZING food!!! Delicious sandwiches and tasty treats. Their food is consistent, amazingly tasty and always on point. Some of my favorites are the cheddar curds, pretzels with gouda beer cheese, the chopped cheese and the mikey manhattan. OMG, you literally can't do any better!

In the sea of fast-food conglomerates and the cookie-cutter approach of sandwich making, there shines a beacon of delectable delight on Long Island - the Hero Joint. It is an undervalued gem in the world of sandwiches, offering a truly gastronomical experience that one cannot afford to miss.Addressing the elephant in the room, some have raised concerns over the pricing To those who critique the pricing, I can only lament your lack of appreciation for what goes into creating a truly great sandwich. Comparing the fares at the Hero Joint to those at mass-market joints such as Subway or Blimpies is a travesty. It is like comparing a fine Bordeaux to a supermarket house wine - both serve their purpose, but are fundamentally different in nature, quality, and the richness of the experience they deliver. What you pay for at the Hero Joint is not just a sandwich - it's a taste of homegrown goodness, crafted with passion and dedication, served on a platter. It's the joy of supporting a local business that pours their heart into every sandwich they make. It is the recognition that superior quality comes with a fair price tag, and I assure you, every bite at the Hero Joint is worth every penny.I've had the pleasure of visiting this sandwich shop twice, and each time, I've been blown away by their roast beef hero - a marvel of culinary perfection. The tenderness of the roast beef, the freshness of the ingredients, and the balance of flavors elevate this humble sandwich into an epicurean masterpiece. If this isn't the epitome of sandwich craftsmanship, I don't know what is.To those who have hesitated to try the Hero Joint based on some baseless and absurd negative reviews, I strongly urge you to reconsider. It is not just a sandwich shop; it's a unique culinary experience that caters to those who appreciate the artistry of fine food. So, do yourself a favor and explore the wonders that the Hero Joint has to offer. After all, isn't it better to pay a bit more for an unforgettable experience than settle for mediocrity?Thos is a must-visit sandwich shop on Long Island. Their heroes are the stuff of legends, and every visit promises a celebration of flavors that leaves a lasting impression on your taste buds. Ignore the naysayers and the penny pinchers; the Hero Joint is truly a place for those who understand and appreciate the art of the sandwich.

The girl behind the counter was incredibly nice and greeted me and my nurse once we walked in. Went over the menu and answered some questions. Having said that, She and the owner (I think it was the owner anyway) would not let us leave without ordering the Mikey Manhattan (haha kinda) and I’m glad they didn’t.The shaved ribeye is what sets this hero up. It’s then topped with provolone cheese, sautéed onions on garlic bread with a house gravy that’s made by the owner(I think)/hero maker and I gotta tell you 2 things. 1. if I can imagine what the cure to my disability would taste like, that gravy is it AND 2, thank god I was sitting down after eating this ?? cause it’s was huge. The place is amazing, the people are incredible and most importantly the HEROS ARE ELITE! I will be back many more times and it’s gonna be tough getting anything other then the Manhattan. Get here ASAP and you won’t regret it.

From the moment we walked in the door it was fabulous! They obviously care about making their patrons happy in any way they can... John & Tom went wayyyy out of their way for us!I've been in the service industry for 35 years, and know Perfection when I see it....Top Notch menu, Exceptional quality and service!

I wish i could give it more stars! I work with special needs and from the moment we walked in the guys have been an absolute pleasure making sure the person I support never felt rushed and always welcome. They treat him with respect and like a man and he has made it part of his weekly routine! They take gluten free very seriously and everything is delicious! Especially their chowder! I cannot recommend either location enough. No cold cuts here everything is real meat and almost all made in house. Get over there!Vegetarian options: They have a build your own sandwhich options which always you to customize it how you like!Kid-friendliness: Everyone is welcome!Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp going into the store front of main street!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free is taken seriously here and not like a fad.

This might be the best sandwich place on the Island. Even better than a certain place on Horseblock Rd...The Johnny Chop Cheese and Daverami are the two I've tried so far. And the Thanksgiving soup.I'm a big dude and I can barely finish these heroes, they are a very good deal considering how much food you're getting at the price. The owner is super nice and will customize for you.Only negative is that it's hard to park (this is all of Bay Shore tho)Glad I live nearby.
