After being a loyal customer at their Bayside, NY location since the first week it opened (and spending THOUSANDS of dollars), today was my last visit at The French Workshop. The manager offended me with a hurtful comment today when I asked about a worker that I haven't seen recently. That's okay. Betty Cake across the street, Martha's Country Bakery, and Spin Bagel will now get all of my business as they appreciate me. Good-bye!

The atmosphere in here is amazing with the calm music and the warm aesthetic. I got their crème brûlée and the mixed fruit tart. The creme brûlée was spectacular with the sugar crusted on top, especially after seeing them make it fresh it just made the whole thing taste so good. The mix fruit tart has the perfect amount of sweetness and tartness. Everything about this establishment is top quality even the customer service, the employees were so helpful and friendly.

As someone who works in the hospitality industry, I never leave negative reviews—no matter how bad the food is—because I understand what goes into it, and I don’t want to do that to my fellow hospitality peers.
But as a classically French-trained chef, I can’t stay silent on this one.

It’s frankly abhorrent that a shop dares to call itself a “French Artisan Bakery” when it can’t even execute a simple pound cake correctly. I’ve seen 14-year-olds turn out better pound and marble cakes than this place. And at these prices? I’d be mortified to serve something like this.

The pound cake was dry as a corpse, cloyingly sweet with an odd chemical sharpness, and had a crumb so brittle it reminded me of a millennial dad’s annual pedicure foot shavings. Nothing here was redeemable. As we say in the industry, “you’re only as good as your last dish.” Save your money—and your palate.

Very disorganized with food ordering and paying. Dessert burnt and not normal at all. Shocking they would serve this knowing it's overly burnt

my family & i love the pastries here !! 💟 it's usually pretty packed here from my experience but so worth it. it's super unique from any other bakery ive been to in queens. they have special pastries for different occasions, which is part of the reason why i love it here. the place is kinda small but have seating inside & some outside. it is pricey but they taste delicious & the craftmanship/presentation of each pastry takes skill/time. i've never seen an ugly pastry from here! 😂🥰

It’s busy here non stop. Besides weekdays this is not the place to read a book. Always a large multitude of customers. Love the busy NYC meets French vibes. Amazing food and service. Shops design blows my mind. Fancy shop in Bell. Will deff come back with my pops again.

Absolutely loved this café! The atmosphere is warm and inviting — perfect for relaxing, catching up with friends, or getting some work done. The staff were friendly and attentive, and everything came out quickly and fresh. My drink was made perfectly, and the food was flavorful and beautifully presented. You can really tell they care about quality and customer service. Definitely one of my new favorite spots — I’ll be coming back soon!
