I LOVE Melzingah……this is where my boyfriend and I had our first date. We have decided that every anniversary will be here. The food is phenomenal and the drinks are amazing.

I hate writing negative reviews but I feel obligated to leave one for the sake of anyone with food allergies or dietary restrictions who is interested in dining here. I have celiacs, which is an immune deficiency triggered by gluten (wheat). My family chose this restaurant because they are known to be very accommodating for dietary restrictions and we made them aware of my restrictions when making the reservation. There was an item on the menu labeled as gluten free that I was interested in and upon ordering our food, I was notified that the menu was incorrect and that some items labeled as gluten free are actually not gluten free. I instead ordered the salmon and risotto. My food didn’t come out with my family’s food and I waited 15 additional minutes for my food to arrive to the table. During the time I waited, my family noticed that nearly every dish that arrived at the table was undercooked and needed to be sent back (and was still not cooked to the desired temperature when it returned to the table). My salmon was delicious and all was well until about an hour after I returned home when I became violently ill and remained so through Christmas. The only redeeming quality for this dining experience was the incredible, albeit very overwhelmed, wait staff who unfortunately had to do a lot of apologizing for our dining experience. I really wanted to give Melzingah the benefit of the doubt but when my health is on the line I expect it to be taken seriously or at minimum be told that I cannot be accommodated for.

In the past, everything was amazing here. The last three times not so much. Between not having menu items, food being prepared incorrectly, and with the level of service, it's just not what it used to be.

My favorite item on the menu is their fried chicken sandwich. Used to be a very nice portion, flavorful breaded chicken. What was served to me last night was definitely not the same, it was dry grilled chicken and tasted horrible. The time before that they didn't have any to be served. Which makes me wonder if it was the same this time and they just tried to substitute with whatever they had.

Washed it down with warm water that was served to the table after waiting over 45 minutes for the food to be served.

The waitress removed the item from the bill and offered to serve something different, which was declined as kitchen staff doesn't tend to be kind to food being sent back.

It's just not what it used to be there and I definitely will not be going back. Beacon offers so many options for amazing food and service, and have to support local, but unfortunately Melzingah is no longer on the list.

I wish them the very best and I hope they continue to thrive.

GO HERE, NOT THE ROUNDHOUSE

After casual day trips to Beacon for several years, my partner and I decided to stay for a long weekend. We discovered this place and I will never fall for the tourist trap restaurants again! The chicken and dumplings is one of the best meals I think I’ve ever had, and my partner loved the short rib! The service was incredible too. Cannot recommend enough!

I love Melzingah! When I lived in FL, my family and I had made it our tradition to eat at Melzingah every visit to NY! The drinks, the ambiance, the food and the workers is what makes Melzingah even more amazing. This is one of my favorite restaurants and they are consistent with their wonderful service. We were in the Beacon area last Friday and I told my bestie, we MUST go to Melzingah. It was her first time and she fell in love too. Keep it up! Everything on the menu is great, I’ve order nearly everything on the menu and had no regrets! I especially love the Old Fashioned there too.

Dietary restrictions: My sister is vegan and she had options besides a salad. She loves their burgers with hummus. The charcuterie board had many options for her as well.

Kid-friendliness: Families brought their children and there was chairs available

The salmon dish was the best salmon I have ever had. The risotto was amazing and the salmon cooked perfectly. Great service and we went when there was a very talented duet performing. Loved it!!!

Landed at this spot after completing our hike to fire tower. We grabbed a couple of burgers and the big kid grilled cheese. The amount of fries they give you is insane! Plus you can sub for truffle fries. If we visit again I would opt for the chicken sandwich instead of the grilled cheese! Only downsides we experienced was the service was slow and it was very loud in the restaurant. Had difficulty hearing the others in our party which was a bummer.
