One of the best meals I had while in beacon for a long weekend! We had the fish and chips and toad in the hole, which were cooked perfectly. You can tell the ingredients are high quality. Ambiance is nice and cozy and staff are accommodating ! Already planning a trip back up

We hear the scones are good here, so we came to buy some. The scone is delicious, and they put some jam and cream on the side to make it even more flavorful. I bought it as a takeout, so it’s not heated. Not sure if they will heat the scone when customers dine in. Overall, it’s a nice little restaurant in the Main Street of beacon.

Firstly, I will start by saying the food was delicious. My brother and I got the fish and chips, tofu tikka masala, and banoffee pie. They were out of some items unfortunately, but it was near closing time.
The issue we had more was with the service. When we go to Beacon, we usually go to Ziatun. We've passed Moreish before and I've always wanted to try it. We came in a little before 1 PM as a walk-in. It's a small restaurant with not many tables and all were taken. We didn't mind waiting. I gave a woman (seemed like the owner) my name and my phone number and she wrote it down. I asked for the wait time and she told me that there were 5 parties ahead of us and the wait could be 15 minutes, 30 minutes or potentially longer and that she would contact us when it was our turn.
We decided to do a little window shopping and eventually made our way back in about 20 minutes since my brother was having trouble walking. We waited outside Moreish for more than an hour and definitely in that time saw at least 5 parties leave and others come in and be seated.
Since we, in the moment, realized they were closing at 3 and not 6 like we initially thought, at around 2:30, I went in and politely told the woman that we've been waiting for more than an hour and have seen at least 5 parties come in and out in that time. She told me that they should be able to seat us before 3, but there was still 1 party ahead of us. Again, not sure how that's the case based off what we saw during that time.
My thought is that they need to have a better system in dealing with their waiting list or that they need to be more transparent about the number of reservations and waiting time. My wondering is if they are even following the waiting list to fidelity. If I didn't go in and ask her at 2:30, I don't actually know if we would've gotten a call from them, even if there was a table open...
When we were actually seated, the people working were polite and again the food was delicious. That said, the whole experience of it all was still off-putting and left me with questions. I would like to possibly try it again another time to try some of the other dishes. Hopefully it'll be a better overall experience.

Such a great spot for breakfast! The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, and everything tasted so fresh. The English breakfast was delicious and full of flavor, but the real standout were the scones—absolutely amazing! Soft, warm, and perfectly baked. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to.

Only heard about this place through my daughter watching TikTok… and what an absolutely marvellous place it is. Being an Englishman, Manchester born and bred, my wife from Merseyside and daughter born in Sheffield, we were sceptical at first as we’ve been to many so called British places before. I ordered a mug of tea, they have my usual brew, Yorkshire Tea, and it came hot, strong and a small jug of milk on the side, I was offered sugar too but I don’t roll that way. My wife and I ordered Fish & Chips, with the Tartar Sauce, and Mushy Peas, making sure they had Malt Vinegar first, which they had. Daughter ordered the Sirloin Beef Roast. Fish was battered with a light crispy batter, chips where hand cut and just like mum used to make in the old chip pan, mushy peas were divine, and the tartar sauce was the tastiest sauce I’d ever had, I’d honestly go back just for that. The roast was piled high, a good sized Yorkshire Pud, several Roasties, parsnips, carrots, cabbage and green beans also adorned the plate, but the Beef was the star of the show. Cooked to perfection, with a robust gravy my daughter devoured most of it but was defeated by the potato’s. I naturally helped out like the hero dad I am, and they too disappeared. In conclusion, a very respectable British Sunday Lunch was had, and only being 30mins from where we live, it’ll be a regular eatery for us… you do have to reserve a table though, as there’s only a few tables and it gets busy.
Have been wanting to stop in, sure glad we did! Quaint British decor, small and cozy. Food was beautifully plated and delicious. First time tasting this type of breakfast and couldn’t have been better. (Hash browns are the bomb)
