Backwoods Pizza Reviews
Coolest find ever! Best NYC style pizza we've had in years. A must try!
Stopped on our through pennsylvania and the pizza was amazing! Got 2 cheese 1 pep, Giant pep slices with fresh mozzarella on top it was the best pizza I've had and the garlic knots were dressed and delicious! They also hooked us up with a cup of chicken for our dog. Not expensive at all absolutely worth the trip! Thank you!
Hands down the best pizza I've ever had! I live in Rochester and if this business came to a bigger city they'd make a killing. Bought 2 huge pieces. The owner said 5 bucks. I said for both? Insane!

Backwoods Pizza is a restaurant that has received high praise from customers. One reviewer stopped while traveling through Pennsylvania and found the pizza amazing, calling it the best pizza they have had. They got 2 cheese and 1 pep, with Giant pep slices and fresh mozzarella on top. The garlic knots were dressed and delicious, and the staff even gave a cup of chicken for a dog. The reviewer noted it was not expensive at all and absolutely worth the trip.
Another customer, who lives in Rochester, said it was hands down the best pizza they have ever had and believed that if this business came to a bigger city, they would make a killing. They bought 2 huge pieces, and the owner said 5 bucks. They were shocked it was for both, calling it insane.
One reviewer waited a few months for this new restaurant to come into its stride. Having had pizza all over the world, even in Italy, they said the pizza here is literally in the top 3 they have ever had. The ingredients are nothing but the best, and care is taken in creating the dough and preparing everything for the pies, like driving all the way to Buffalo to pick up just the right kind of sausage or cheese or tomato sauce. It is not a conveyor belt Pizza from some fast food restaurant. The key is the wood-fired stove, which makes a delicious crisp, thin, crushed, or thick with not too doughy consistency and just the right amount of flavor. When it first opened, there were so many people in line, and the logistics were very difficult to keep up with, but that is not a bad problem to have for a brand new business in a very small town. The owner shines with a friendly demeanor and talks to all the customers, knowing most of them by name. Usually, customers do not even have to tell him what their order is, as he already knows. One customer usually gets the Yeti, which is a white Pizza with spinach, and it is done to perfection, not just the cook, but the distribution of toppings, the amount of cheese and the amount of time in the oven. All of the pies are of the highest quality and cook as well. This is a wonderful pizza place that customers will love to sit at one of the picnic tables in town and savor every slice, or take it home and enjoy while watching the Buffalo Bills. Handmade sandwiches are coming soon.
Another reviewer gave 5 stars because the food is phenomenal but offered constructive criticism. They said that just because one can cook and make things taste great does not necessarily mean one is also good at running a business. They suggested considering hiring a business development manager or taking a business course, getting a handle on hours, starting with minimal weekly hours that can be maintained and expanding from there, having enough food prepped and ready, figuring out the electrical and AC setup before opening, and hiring someone to answer the phone and take orders. They wished good luck and said they will order again.
A final reviewer said the pizza was really good and had been waiting a few weeks to get the chance to try it. It was definitely worth the wait. They bought a slice and added spinach and mushrooms. They could tell the staff were busy but they stayed polite and were quick. They waited under 5 min. for them to add the toppings and warm the slice. Once they took a bite, they only stopped to breathe.
