My son wanted to try it . I’ve live in the area for years . A friendly family, and warm environment. Homemade German cuisine from the jumbo pretzel to the appetizers of fresh shrimp to a meal German burger was spectacular. My son ended with a homemade German rice pudding that was out of this world.

One German restaurant we have never been to. First time there was Father’s Day. We made reservations it was busy. There was plenty of parking. Seated right away. We had the Bavarian huge pretzel, Jaeger Schnitzel with potato pancakes and red cabbage. Beer & wine also good. Food was tasty and service was good.
Food was very good. Prices were a little high. There were very little vegetable selections. Service was good. There was no complimentary bread on the table. Atmosphere was good. A little noisy but we still were able to talk without raising our voices. Very busy.

Great old time German restaurant, the food was great, the beer was cold. The service was great our server and the rest of the staff was awesome. My son keeps asking to go back, he wants the giant pretzel.

I am german and my mom made the best german food. Their saurbtaten was superb buttheir gravy???? Was beautifully smooth anf full of flavor! I woukd definitely go back!
Pricey; we were, oh, $85/person with entrees, 2 small beers/person, and a few appetizers at a big table. Food was just OK. Kasespatzle was pretty good, but the schnitzel did not impress and was not worth the price. Other German restaurants on LI/in Queens have better food at 80% of the cost.

My first time eating German food so I didn't know what anything on the menu was and the server explained everything well. Delicious jaegar schnitzel, so well seasoned with rich mushroom sauce. The environment here is so cozy, no music and everyone was speaking softly and I really appreciated the quiet environment. Cute decor feels like a grandparents house or something

We recently visited Oak Chalet for a family gathering after seeing a feature about it on News 12, and what a memorable experience it was. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by Oma Gigi, whose genuine hospitality set the tone for the evening. I greeted her in German, and we instantly connected. She graciously shared a bit of the restaurant's history, including how the charming architecture was designed by her husband, who sadly passed away just last month. The décor — from the traditional plates and rustic furniture to the comforting aroma of sauerbraten — transported us straight to Germany. Our server, Eric, Oma Gigi’s grandson, was both pleasant and knowledgeable, enhancing our dining experience with his attentiveness. Each of us ordered the sauerbraten, which was cooked to absolute perfection. The classic sides of red cabbage and a potato dumpling were authentic and delicious. We enjoyed German beer with our meals, which paired beautifully with the rich flavors. To top off the evening, Oma Gigi treated us to a slice of what can only be described as the best apple strudel we’ve ever had. Oak Chalet is more than just a restaurant — it’s a warm, welcoming slice of German tradition and family pride. We’ll absolutely be returning.
Potatoe balls were way off. Definately not dumplings. Spetzel store bought. Meat was just ok. Serving small. Waitress very nice. Prices online were half of what the actual restaurant is but in comparison on the higher side with other German restaurants. Wasn't great.
