De Island Hut offers a unique dining experience with a variety of delicious and flavorful dishes. The menu includes options such as Beef Roti, Aloo Pie, Doubles, Pepper Fries, and Veggie Roti. Customers have praised the warm and welcoming atmosphere, along with the friendly staff that makes guests feel at home. The restaurant is known for its rich, decadent smells that fill the space, creating an inviting environment. The hot sauce and pepper fries are said to pack a punch, while the veggie roti helps to balance out the heat. Many reviewers highlight the generous portions and the flavorful, authentic Caribbean-inspired cuisine. The vibe is lively, with soca beats often playing in the background, enhancing the overall experience. Jerk chicken wings are described as spicy and tender, great with mixed veggies. The curry chicken with veggies and cheesy potatoes is also highly praised. The vegetable roti is considered so good that many customers find themselves eating it for days later, complemented by great mac and cheese and carrot rice. First-time visitors note that the spiciness has been toned down but still offers great flavor, with dishes like stew chicken having a little spice but tasting excellent. The cuisine weaves influences from Africa, China, and India, with dishes like curry chicken and chickpea roti offering familiar flavors, while plantains and ox tail add a special touch. The house-made fermented ghost pepper sauce provides a fiery kick for those who want extra heat. Overall, De Island Hut remains a highly recommended hidden gem for tasty Caribbean food, perfect for lunch or casual dining.
