I go to Bolton Landing once a year minimum and this is by far the best restaurant in town. I've never had a bad dish. Last time they had a venison special it was honestly the best meal I had all year. Chaeteu is also very child friendly as you can sit outside in the back and it doesn't feel as formal. Servers are great & the food is top notch. Sometimes it has taken a while for the food to come out but the view and ambiance are so nice who cares? If you are in the area you have to try. Little pricey, but worth the cost.

My favorite place to dine and stay in the Lake George area any time of the year! The food and drinks are great and the atmosphere is super cozy and welcoming. The rooms are a great size and overlook the lake, you can’t beat the view! Always my recommendation for those visiting the area.

Incredible food, every dish was perfect, plus the staff (server/bartender/host) were all friendly and highly attentive. Cozy and elegant dining area with a fireplace. Can't wait to return next time I travel to Lake George.

The little details of the rooms, how bright + airy it is, and the lawn set up for small, intimate weddings with the water views is everything. I can't wait to go back and do another wedding there!Noteworthy details: I love the porch!

We booked a family dinner here after I read the reviews. The service was fantastic. Our waiter helped us with our coats and took us to the table. I got a cocktail prior to switching to wine which was great. The apps were amazing; I had a shrimp cocktail. We got the chefs cut NY strip, chicken franchise, beet salad, and the snapper special (the chef was able to make this gluten free). All the food was fabulous. The restaurant is designed to feel like a living room. It's very chic and cozy. I highly recommend dining here if you're in town.

What a find. We are somewhat familiar with Bolton Landing, but did not know about the Chateau. Terrific Thanksgiving Dinner. We'll be back for sure. To be clear - gave them a 4 star for value. The overall experience easily deserves 5 stars... it's just that desert ( which was optional ) was a tiny piece of pie for a somewhat crazy price... just my $ 0.02. But this should IN NO WAY detract from the overall experice. We LOVED it.

Had Thanksgiving dinner and enjoyed the food. My husband said it was the best turkey he'd ever had. I forgave him for that knock on my turkey. Also he really liked the gravy and doesn't usually care for it. I cannot eat gluten and they accommodated my diet restriction with substitutes but I do wish they had gluten free gravy and stuffing. Atmosphere was nice but our area on the porch was chilly. Would definitely recommend it.

I stumbled across Chateau on the Lake, Bolton Landing, NY, while looking for a special place to stay with my wife for our 15th anniversary. The Chateau is incredible. Our room (Room #1) was gorgeous and spotlessly clean. The view from the private deck was beautiful. The restaurant downstairs was fantastic. One of the best steaks I've ever had (and I eat a lot of steak). Our server, Andrea, was excellent. Side note: I added a lobster tail to my entree. It was not only delicious, but huge. The owner, Buddy, Jr., made other local recommendations for dining as well. We made it to three of them: Bolton Landing Brewery (incredible wings), Cate's (best pizza outside Jersey) and Max London's (in Saratoga Springs). We enjoyed them all. What's nice is, you can walk to many places in Bolton Landing from The Chateau. The Chateau is such a great find. We'll likely make it our official anniversary place! Thanks, Buddy, Jr. and Jen for creating such a perfect getaway venue! You have customers for life, and we've never said that about any place before.Matt and Holly BishopRooms: Exquisitely, tastefully decorated. Great attention to detail. Absolutely not your typical hotel, resort or inn roomWalkability: Multiple restaurants and shops.

Great night out for a special birthday meal! All food was delicious and the specialty cocktails were impressive—the smoked old fashioned was served in a glass box full of smoke! Will definitely go back!!

We spend a lot of time in Bolton Landing every year but had never tried the "Chateau on the Lake" We travel and spend time in NYC and are used to high prices. One thing we aren't used is paying extreme prices for food that was mediocre at best. We were at the Sagamore for a fall weekend and decided to try the Chateau. The space is pretty and comfortable. The restaurant is far from the water so even though you are on Lake George, it is hard to tell. But as my dear dad always says "you don't eat atmosphere". The waiter was kind and prompt. We started with shrimp cocktail which was fresh, firm and tasty. We then had the baby lamb chops appetizer. We were splitting 2 apps and an entree. The lamb chops were tasty though over-sauced. Our entree left us speechless. We ordered the Duck Confit fettuccine. My husband tasted it and said " it tastes like someone opened a can of cream of mushroom soup and poured it on the pasta" ( and he is not the picky one of the two of us) Now I have never had a can of soup like that. I have had excellent duck confit. You could barely find any duck and the taste was as my husband said bland. Sometimes you order an overpriced glass of wine or a steak that is high priced and not worth it. You chalk it up to "that happens some times" . I have never written a review like this but come on Chateau! It is really not that hard to make a good pasta and/or Duck confit. And charging $48.00 for said pasta, unbelievable ! So so disappointed .

What a great venue; on the lake, in Bolton Landing. We were promptly greeted with Happy Anniversary by the hostess and one of the servers, who happened to be ours, Evan. He brought out two complimentary glasses of champagne. Started out with fresh very large shrimp cocktail and grilled clams casino (my term on the clams) served in a butter broth; both were delicious. What I liked was the shrimp cocktail comes with 4 but you can add on for $4 per shrimp, we added two. Their MP items were very reasonable and the one I ordered was chateaubriand, added grilled mushrooms and a lobster tail, cooked to perfection. Included was a smithering of scalloped potatoes and a vegetable medley. My wife ordered lobster and clams over linguine with a nice white whine sauce; delicious. We split a piece of chocolate peanut butter cake, delicious. I ordered two glasses of Chardonnay and picked one I really like and to me very reasonably priced. My wife ordered a pear martini and it was delicious. Cheers.

This was THE best meal I have ever eaten out. The ambience was romantic, our waitress was adorable, and I will crave that meal for the rest of my life. Expensive but worth every single penny!

This place is AMAZING! We had the mushroom ravioli appetizer which was absolutely delicious. The main course was even better and the overall experience five plus stars. Our server was very attentive and so friendly but professional. We will be back on our next trip!
