Overly hyped! I really was excited to try this place out but sadly was left not being impressed. I came in around evening time and helped myself to the menu. Not a lot being offered at this cafe, I ordered the $16 chimi with fries which fell short of anything tasting like an authentic chimi burger from RD...I thought i was eating garlic bread cheese sandwhich with a little bit of ground meat with a small amount of fries for the overpriced ticket. Would not recommend to order that if you come here. I also tried the passion fruit drink but it was watered down which was highly disappointing and tasted powdered rather than fresh. Sadly I won't be giving this place a 2nd chance. Some other concerns as the esthetic and up keep is not well maintained, I was seated towards the back with folding wagons and card board produce boxes left in sight in the dining area. Not sure but the cute front of the cafe is the only attraction if you want to get a photo op.

I first went to this place when it went viral and I was excited. I waited 3 hours an order of empanadas and they turned out to be great. However, I returned today and ordered a beef $16 chimi ? and a $6 morir soñando. The morir soñando tasted like it was made with artificial lemonade. It was gross. I was willing to let that slide until I called the cafe because my chimi did not have cabbage and was overcooked— I called the store and voiced my issue and the “manager” said there was no way it didn’t have cabbage because she made it. It literally didn’t, but she argued with me so here is a picture of it to show that it didn’t have it. She beyond overcooked it along with the onions. This is the worst chimi and they are lucky I paid with a debit card. Never returning.

i love being dominican. i HEAVILY recommend this cafe for authentic dominican food. the waitresses are so so sweet. the food on top of that is amazing. i could literally eat everything on the menu. i really really want to eat the chimi sandwich again, with their fries! I came here with a few of my friends was excited to try it out after hearing so much about this place. The place is nice decorated really nice with Dominicans pictures it even has a make believe Dominican grocery store that you find in the corner in DR. The service was slow and they’re wasn’t even a lot of people. We went around 1pm waited for over 20 minutes for the empanadas the coffee was ok nothing to die for. I would give it another try to see how it goes.
The only item I would recommend is their empanada. It was crunchy, and the one with cheese was delicious.

The coffee from here brought back so many warm memories of my Abuela, and how she would make her coffee. The food was beyond amazing; the atmosphere brought a lot of warm memories when I lived in the Dominican Republic. I did forget to ask exactly how they make the coffee so I can make it at home.

Love this Inwood restaurant. The food is so delicious and fresh, I was really impressed. I’ve eaten latin food my entire life and usually it can be a little greasy but Amores had all the flavors and seasoning without all grease. Everything tasted light and fresh, I was blown away by the empanadas that are made to order, the perfect bite, great texture in the dough and again so fresh. Highly addictive I could order them every day. I ordered the chicharron de Pollo and tostones, amazing flavor! I washed everything down with a delicious morir sonando drink with passion fruit as the base, I’m used to having it with oranges and this just took the meal to the next level. The staff is so kind and attentive. Will definitely be returning, craving those empanadas as I write this. Highly recommend!
