Been looking for a good BBQ place near me for a long time. I'm so happy I found this place. Roni was really sweet and very attentive. The food was excellent! The place has been there over 25 years as a testament to how good it is.. I hope they stay open another 25.. They could update the TV and wall art. I will be going back soon and I recommend it to everyone!!! Take care of this place people.. ?

I dont know why I keep ordering wings with medium sauce and they continously send my them dry with no seasoning what so ever. If it were just once, id understand but everytime? This place used to be great. Now everything is twice the price and less appetizing. Dont buy the wings.

Ordered through Uber eats today, and I'm sooo disappointed. Ribs were ok, but a little burnt; Mac n cheese would have been better if from a box; potato salad was even worse. $24 for a one piece catfish dinner. To the cook, who I would bet is from Iceland, a little seasoning goes a long way. $100 wasted!!! Don't do it

The delivery man is the only good thing about this place now. I used to order from here quite often until they fired the very nice woman who used to answer the phone & serve the tables. Now the owner does it all because (i assume) she doesn’t want to pay anymore staff - which is totally fine & within reason. But let me tell you this women is not JUST rude with her customers, & the same goes with her staff (from what I witnessed when I ate in) Rude isn’t enough to describe this woman’s disposition & character towards, well everyone. As she has been absolutely nothing short of unmannerly, brash, curt, graceless, impolite, audacious & uncivil. Honestly the food is pretty good, the pie as well. Although it’s nothing that you, your wife or mother couldn’t muster up as well at home. I truly cant stress enough how sharp and flat out abrasive & arrogant the lady is. It surprises me that she is still in business, it makes me wonder if something unsavory & felonious is going on when gates close for the night. Thats a wild assumption - probably false - I know, but THATS how inadequate this women’s behavior is, I just don’t know how she is still open for business!

Truly, truly a gem. The food is amazing. The people behind it are somehow even more amazing. Whenever I'm sick or just need comfort, this is where I order from.I can order here when I'm trying to be good on my diet--the Mediterranean salad with shrimp is a favorite, as are the veggie burger (ask for cheddar cheese!) and turkey meatloaf. The lentil soup is also a great choice, and there's a range of healthy sides to choose from too.But when I want a less "healthy" treat (read: most of the time), I'm getting fried catfish or baby back ribs and a chili cheese dog. The food always arrives fresh, and the driver is always friendly. The owner, Rani, answers the phone and is at this point one of my favorite people in the world. She cares and it shows.To end: I brought their cornbread to the ER the day after I ordered it and shared it with other patients. It had a bunch of really sick people joking and laughing after hours of waiting to be seen. If that doesn't tell you how tasty the food here is, I don't know what will. This food just makes you feel better.
Vegetarian options: The veggie burger is literally the best I have EVER had. So good a bun isn't necessary. Get the platter with Cheddar on the burger so you can also enjoy two sides.The veggie samosas are part of my order no matter what I get. All the chutneys are fab, but if you made me choose one I think the mango might be my favorite.
Dietary restrictions: If you let them know your needs, they do their best to modify or make suggestions. Rani has always managed to accommodate my needs when a heart issue meant I had a very restricted diet.
Went today and had the chicken meal with 2 sides, the potato salad and carrots and broccoli. Everything was delicious, even the lemonade and the free starter chips and salsa. The chicken was smoked barbecue all the way through with flavor and the potato salad was delicious too. I will definitely be back..and the service very friendly. Made a beautiful day even better

We loved our meal! Everything tasted fresh and homemade, including the complimentary chips and salsa. Roni was incredibly friendly and attentive. My three year old and twelve year old ate everything and they're incredibly picky. So grateful to have such amazing food in the neighborhood! Can recommend the turkey chili with cheese, corn bread, and fries! So yummy, we will definitely be back!

I ordered dinner today (5/12/24), for Mother's Day. I understood that due to when I ordered, dinner rush on Mother's Day, it would take around an hour to be delivered to my home. Almost three hours later it arrives, luckily hot (although I'm assuming that's because they forgot we ordered in the first place, since when we called to ask about the status of our delivery, they had no idea who we were), and was subpar in flavor. We ordered the 'Family Meal', and it was more than enough serving wise for three people, but the chicken was dry, barely seasoned, and the glorified barbecue sauce that came on the side was essentially water. The spare ribs were cooked thoroughly, not falling off the bone, but also lacked in flavor. The sides we ordered were the mac and cheese and stuffing with gravy. The mac and cheese was okay, but had no other flavor than the cheese itself. And lastly the stuffing. Absolutely horrible, it was soggy and chunky. We asked for gravy on the side, and our meal came with no gravy, so I'm assuming the gravy was contributing to the soggyness although there was no gravy flavor at all. Over all it was a horrible meal, and I will not be ordering again. I cannot attest to the service of the physical restaurant, but if it is anything like the quality of the delivery, then it is appalling.

Shares excellent food with heartfelt greetings, warmth, love and caring. Rani shares a personal touch from everything she puts on the table, from samosas to her barbequed chicken, vegetables, and excellent home baked desserts. A hidden treasure in Riverdale!
I ordered on uber eats, I was supposed to get bogo samosas and I got 1. The chicken tasted day old out of a fridge. The cornbread was dry the brownie was hard and cold. The garlicy mash potatoes were meh I had to add some salt and butter. The is not a place to order from you will be disappointed.

Reading all these reviews I was excited to try this place as we are looking for a decent (just a decent) Rib/BBQ place and we ordered for pick up and ............... such a dissapointment.We had the half chicken and ribs combo ... as well as the catfish with greens and corn .... and potato salad with ribs.As someone mentioned in a previous review the ribs taste like they were cooked in the morning and then just warmed up. Dry and flavorless, Nothing tasted like it was cooked fresh on the spot. Chicken was tasteless no seasoning, same for the potato salad as well as collard greens. The fried catfish was decent but again under seasoned. Overall experience was underwhelming. Probably won't reorder from there. Gotta keep on looking I guess

This place is the jewel of riverdale. The food quality Is beyond anything anywhere in the area. Heck, it's better than anywhere else in the state! This place Is not your average barbecue joint. The food is homemade. The recipes are all from scratch. Everything from the feta cheese to the Greek salad to the chutney. For the simoses, he's a taste of authentic and hi caliber quality.. You're gonna spend $$$$ here. It's not cheap, but you don't get quality for cheap.
I write to recommend the Barbecue Pit located at 5788 Mosholu Avenue. Despite the restaurant being a Riverdale fixture for twenty plus years, my family just started being "regulars" there. Each time we go we are amazed at the quality of the food, including barbecue (see picture of me below) but also much more, including vegetarian options and Indian dishes reflecting the owner's Indian descent. That owner, Rani, is delightful!If you are looking for great food and a nice quiet atmosphere, I strongly recommend you check out the Barbecure Pit.
