Place is literally 50/50. You might get some good food but there might be times where the foods either salty, rice would be hotter than the meat itself or they’re stingy with the meats. I ordered two plates and one of the beans was literally watered down while the other container was perfectly fine.

The place is great and everything looks great. I'm not sure if it was my taste buds that day or maybe the cook was heavy handed but my beans were salty. Overall good

Came in and had tres golpes for the first time. Had no idea what to expect but the woman who helped me was kind and worked with my broken Spanish. They sell the tres golpes as “desayuno Hispano” and it comes in 2 sizes, small and large. The small was plenty of food and only cost $8. Probably the best value breakfast I’ve had years. I’ve got a big appetite and this plate filled me up. The small plate came with one piece each of fried queso, longanisa, and egg, which were all not incredibly hot, but that’s to be expected from precooked stuff in a steam tray. The mashed plantains were excellent and steaming hot. The pickled onions gave crunch and acidity that added some textural balance. I’m sure that fresh fried sausage, cheese and egg make a world of difference, but again, for $8 cash, this was an incredible value. The inside was very clean and well lit. They have a huge assortment of Caribbean Hispanic food in steam trays, all of it looked and smelled excellent. The señora who helped me out was very nice. I also got a coco rico for $1, which is way less than the $3.50 I paid for one in Manhattan when I first tried it. Maybe I got ripped off that time. I will be back for the breakfast, and to try some other things. If you’re at the Castle Hill 6 station, please stop by.

Had mangu twice here with a Snapple and spent $17.42 on a basic breakfast - the red unions on top had so much salt on them it was like eating sand. I’m sure there’s good food but there’s lack of attention to detail.

This establishment is racist against Black people. I came in and waited on line to order and when it was my turn a Hispanic man entered and cut in front of me and ordered in Spanish and the server began his order. I turned to walk out and the server called after me to apologize and start my order. I said “no thank you” smiled and left. My stomach hurt after that whole interaction and turned me off from ever eating here again

I come here often. It's an absolutely great spot for authentic Dominican cusine. Food can be prepared to order or you could choose from a huge variety of roasted, grilled or stewed meats. They have 2 or 3 types of rice, beans, soups and salads all laid out in buffet style but it's served to you (to stay or to go)
I usually stop by for breakfast when I want a tres golpes or a nice hot Avena (drinkable oatmeal)
Often enough, you'll find Emilio there working along with his staff. This place is a staple in the Castle Hill area. For nearly a decade with frequent visits, I've never had a meal I wasn't absolutely satisfied with.

I usually have no problems here. The food is ok. Today I had to walk out. There was a man on a cane who worked there. He kept staring at me and didn't offer take my order. Probably because I am black and disabled so ignorant people like him Make assumptions. Then A Spanish lady walked in and he took her order right away. So I walked out and took my business with me. Do what that what you will.
