I live nearby the Botanical Garden, and usually I eat lunch at the cafeteria after walking. But when a friend or friends join me, we go to the Garden Grill for lunch. It's always a treat. We went in fairly early, at 12, so we had a good long conversation before it got crowded. Then the tables seemed a little too close. But even so, we had a lovely lunch (luncheon!) and then it was just a few steps to the conservatory for the exhibit.
Always a pleasure going there. Our waiters, who we have had before always suggests the best drinks.
Our lunch was perfect opportunity to take a break from walking through the beautiful gardens and exhibits. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals and menu selections. After completing our meal - we were rushed, so we were ready to continue exploring NYBG.
We had dinner before the evening Van Gogh show. The food was delicious with a good variety of options, including vegetarian options. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We ate outside and the ambience was festive, fun and relaxing.
We've enjoyed the Hudson burger and fries for years, but miss the special sauce on the latest version.
Dining in the Garden is a wonderful experience. The food us usually wonderful, however this meal was less than stellar. Perhaps it was because it was at the end of service? Not sure. I will send specifics in a "private note".
Mixed reviews because while I enjoyed my food my friend did not. She thought the tomato bisque was missing something, asked for and received parmesan cheese but didn't help. The Caesar salad she ordered was ridiculous, a few leaves of romaine with dressing and parmesan. Looked naked, didn't taste like much. I enjoyed both the tomato bisque, although I agreed it was missing something that would have elevated for me from very good to outstanding, and the fried chicken Cobb salad. Noticed it was smaller than it used to be
Always so nice to dine or just drinks at Hudson garden grill while visiting the botanical gardens. The food was delicious, service very good.
The food choices are great. I always get a soup. It's unusual and very tasty. Always save room for dessert. Special requests, grilled rather than fried foods, are no problem. I plan my trip to NYBG around a meal at the grill.
Beautiful restaurant that was flooded with light and large windows looking out into the garden. Nice outdoor seating area. Service was polite and attentive. Food was delicious. Noise level was moderate. Lovely ambiance and it was so nice that the music was not intrusive. Overall a very pleasant experience!

Our food choices were delicious and the presentation was even better! Thank you , chef! Our drinks however, were disappointing - the histamines in the white I ordered affected me, so I couldn't drink it. The specialty cocktail ordered was not cold enough, so the flavor was off; tried putting it in the rocks, but the flavor was then awful - couldn't drink that one either. Unfortunately, our server, Stephanie, never bothered to ask why our drinks were still full well into our meal. While she was present just after we were seated, her attention to us was unimpressive — so disappointing. After dessert was served, it seemed Stephanie ignored us — had to ask someone else for the check. Beautiful location and delicious food though!
Lovely setting. Delicious food. Good service. Butterfly lemonade and chicken Cobb were perfect.
The waitstaff was charming, attentive, and efficient. The restaurant has a European vibe that I loved. Food was creative and yummy. Even my lemonade was special.
We had delicious salads and a lovely Raspberry Yuzu Crumble. The staff was helpful and pleasant. It's always a pleasure to eat there!
Lovely setting! Staff was professional and very quick to help. Food was delicious. I would definitely recommend Hudson Garden Grill and plan to return in the future.
