I came here around a decade ago. They did not have a buffet back then, as many of the reviews here state. I remember liking this food. The restaurant was empty when it was new, mostly because the neighborhood folks couldn't afford restaurant food. But I noticed a large staff, which gave me the impression of whoever opened this spot, did it with love.

I'm Latin X of Caribbean Colombian and Coastal Ecuadorian decent. I came here to say, many Colombians would be shocked to find what Colombians believed were their cultural foods, right here in a West African restaurant. I remember seeing a whole wall stacked with just bunuelos, Colombian style. When I asked, oh you guys sell Colombian food too? They all looked at me like I was crazy, even though I was standing right next to the bunuelos, slowly realizing, the bunuelo isn't Colombian, it is actually West African as they told me it was their nationality's bread. I just can't remember if they said that bread originated in Uganda or Angola.

I have recently moved back to NYC. I think I will return to this place and find out. Fellow Colombians, come and check this place out. Find out where your grandparent's cooking magic originated from. Wepa!

I typically don't like writing poor reviews about some places. This has to be an exception. The food sits out buffet style but there were so many flies, it was a turn off. It smelled so horrible in there, I couldn't even stay to ask for anything.

One of the few places in NYC where you can find food from Guinea! Definitely worth traveling up to the Bronx to eat off jalloh’s massive buffet, where breadth is matched by depth in flavor. The food remains high quality (fresh, not too greasy or salty), even at 11:30pm when I visitedI particularly loved the Dhapa et Folêrê , a Guinean grits dish, where the corn is fresh ,fragrant, and unbelievably variegated in texture. You can also choose to eat the folêrê with dishes like bourakhé (cassava leaves stewed in palm oil and smoked fish), a winning combo that delicately juxtaposes the stew's smoke and heat with the mellow and earthy flavors of the grits. Or if you’re craving the smooth and silky texture of okra, there’s maffi gumbo that pairs very well with grits. The options here are endless..

They are open 24 hours. The food is west African. Peanut butter sauce is good. The leave of potato with palm oil with smoked fish is dynamite. And grilled lamb with salad or plantains is a must.
