I have been going here with my grandmother since I was 6 years old, then as an adult I continued going. It’s nowhere near where I live so when I go, it’s a treat. The guy that is usually there both cooking and taking orders was extremely rude Monday 3/9. I made an order and waited, multiple other people made orders as well. When he gave me my price, I let him know that it was incorrect because I did the math ahead of time. He threw down the calculator and said I’m wrong. He got my order Wrong and added an extra order of shrimp that I didn’t order and instead of just admitting he got the order wrong he starts yelling and opening the box saying give me back the shrimp then. I was trying to tell this hot head that even though he got the order wrong that I would just keep the extra order and pay for it and he continued to say that He didn’t get the order wrong and that’s what I ordered. As if I’m an idiot. 2 other customers came in and saw the commotion and both of them said the energy of that man was crazy and they rather go somewhere else. Not only did he loose a life long customer but his attitude lost him 2 other potential customers. The man was taking multiple orders, clearly he messed up and just couldn’t admit it. The machismo attitude will get you nowhere. Treat your customers better because they can spend their money elsewhere.

I have been coming here for years. Today was shocking to me because my family brought strimp from here and the tip of the strimp tail was fully green moldy 🤮🤮. I'm pretty sure they noticed bad strimp before they cook it.. They are feeding you bad strimp. Pay attention to your food please, look at your food!!!!

The restaurant was terrible The service was very, very bad. The food was very upset i because the lady replace my order to a different plate and she put too much black pepper and she have a big attitude. And The prices for water and Snapple they do not accept EBT they only accept cash, which is ridiculous so if you find a place to eat, never never go in this fish market.

HELLO everyone.
Jay fish market has been my go to for my saw food needs since I moved in the Bronx 6 yearw ago.
The fish is always fresh and the staff is attentive and hard working, they also SERVE fried seafood platters which I intend to TRY but have yet to do so.
The other day when I went to BUY my seafood, I noticed red tilapias. ? I wondered if they WERE a new breed since I never knew that tilapias came in that color, I enquired via google to make sure that they were in fact naturally grown as the black ones. To find out that they are compared to red snapper and it is said that the black ones are usually used for fillets. Anyway I brought one and to my surprise it was delicious, meaty and very tasty ?.
I am giving Jay fish market a thumbs up for selling such good seafood since I have been living in the Bronx. I recommend this location for all your seafood needs, the prices are great, the seafood is fresh and I know the fried seafood is good because people eat in there often even though the place is small.
Enjoy Jay Sea food products, they are top notch in the Bronx.

I have been coming to the seafood place for years ever since I was, and I think seventh grade. It hasn’t changed much. It’s very no-frills;basic; functional. However the seafood is top-notch for a hole in wall spot amazes me in New York City has a hole in the wall spots always seem to have the best food this place. The food is pretty good the customer services to the least functional straightforward and they get the job done well, my friend.
