Rum Honey Brown Stewed Chicken
Our stewed chicken combines all of the flavors that you come to love from the renown Mya Jamaican kitchen. For those who don't know, brown stew chicken takes a little more time than most traditional stew recipes you will find. The meat is washed and then marinated in "seasoning" which includes chopped aromatics and a few dry seasonings. The meat is then lightly browned on the stovetop or in the oven, and then stewed for about 30-40 minutes until the meat is fall off the bone tender.
But wait, there's more. We give the patron the option to enhance this magnificent dish with our sweet and spicy "Rum Honey".

Our stewed chicken combines all of the flavors that you come to love from the renown Mya Jamaican kitchen. For those who don't know, brown stew chicken takes a little more time than most traditional stew recipes you will find. The meat is washed and then marinated in "seasoning" which includes chopped aromatics and a few dry seasonings. Rice is included with this family tray.
Jerk Chicken Dinner Tray
This Jamaican "bar-b-que" is comprised of several spices, including the spicy habanera pepper, scallion, and a whole lot of love. This dish is not tame. The compliment of heat is only masked by the smokey sweet flavor of the house made jerk sauce. Rice is included with this option.

Jamaican Black Cake
Famous for its uniquely dense texture, dark color, rich and robust taste; this is the cake that takes the cake. This beloved rum soaked fruit cake is highly revered and sought after during Christmas time as well as weddings and celebrations. If you've never had this cake, at first glance it may resemble that of a chocolate cake, but the deep dark color comes from the main ingredient- dried macerated fruits. Prunes, currants, raisins, and glaced cherries are chopped finely then soaked in red wine and dark rum for months and years on end. The fruit mixture is added to cake batter along with aromatic flavorings and warm spices. When baking, my home is fragranced with the cake's citrusy notes. It smells like Christmas is in the air.

Maya's bar and kitchen has the most friendliest service. Their food is excellent. I would try their oxtail and fish dish. My daughter raves about their Rasta Pasta. I am not a chicken wings fan, however, their chicken wings are so good. I don't know why more people don't know about them.

The food was pretty good. Jerk wings tasted like regular bbq wings, Rasta pasta was tasty (wish there were more peppers in it), oxtails were good but it’s $26 and there were only 3 oxtails in the bowl and the rest were bones (NOT OK)

I really enjoyed myself here. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who’s in the Throggs Neck area of the Bronx to come and check this place out. The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is cool for a great time to gather with friends for After Church Brunch.
