Delicious food! Enough said!
Thought it was popeyes but the food was good
Okay soup, poor quality swallow. The swallow was dripping in liquid, it was too sticky and not was not beaten properly. The soup is okay, thick. The meat however is overdone.
Nice place to eat
I wish I could give it a zero for real, their customer service is very bad and rude.
Food not good… I bought fufu and soup.. the soup is full of ginger and pepper( no taste)
The soup taste awful… very very poor customer service too…the guy over there is something else I regret going there
Eat tasteless food at your own risk
Food is't cooked well. terrible customer service. no respect at all I wouldn't eat here ever don't waste your time and money because I already did that for you
Literally the worst experience ive ever had at a restaurant ever. The staff is rude and the owner is worse. So disrepectful to the customers, especially if you dont speak their native languange. I thought the food would make up for my experience but it did not. I woudn’t reccomend i shouldve listened to my friends and went to the one on 167!
Keep on getting better any day I come. Got their Omotuo this time around and the palmnut was banging.

Purchased waakye today. Service was good. However, the waakye smelled burnt which was super disappointing 'cos it could've been delicious. Sadly, after taking a couple of spoons of it...I threw it away. I'm not sure why getting good/authentic waakye in NYC especially in the Bronx has become laborious.

As a first-gen Ghanaian American, I've always craved the authentic flavors of my parents' homeland. Papaye African Restaurant in the Bronx is a culinary haven that transports me straight to Ghana! The aromas, the spices, the tender meat... every bite is a taste of nostalgia and cultural pride.
I appreciate the simplicity of the menu, which allows the chefs to focus on perfecting the traditional dishes that have been passed down through generations. The jollof rice is a staple, and Papaye's version is a masterclass in flavor and technique.
As a first-gen, it's beautiful to see my culture celebrated and shared with the community. Papaye African Restaurant is more than just a meal - it's a connection to my heritage, a celebration of our traditions, and a reminder of the rich cultural legacy that shapes my identity.
