Great location: it's right across the street from the Bronx Library Center. Great jukebox: it has one volume--loud. OK tacos: all the right selections (beef, pig, foul, goat, and guts), nice portions; lengua was a little on the mushy-overly-stewed side. Not so great toppings: not fond of the shredded iceberg, diced tomatoes, crema and queso blanco on my tacos. Wish they would've stuck with the usual raw onions and cilantro. However, they have a nice smoky salsa, which is great. It's friendly, big windows let in lots of sunlight, and the price is right. Not really a destination place, but worth a quick bite if you're in the area.

Real-deal Mexican. Staff does/will not speak English. Cockfighting mural on the wall, just behind the picture of Saint Mary with a crucifix over her head... Jukebox music is all en espanol, as is the programming on la television. Food is good. On my first visit I had the Mole Poblano -- a rice & beans dish built around a quarter chicken SMOTHERED in mole sauce. It was dee-licious. My companions (who are repeat customers) had chicken quesadillas and soft tacos, also delicious. Next time I go I'll try a fruit smoothie. Note: When ordering quesadillas, "Americana" means HUGE, as in "takes up a platter and costs $8," while "Mexicana" means "sensible size: fits on a paper plate and costs $2." Oh yeah: they serve beer. In bottles.
