While the cupcakes are good, very good even, the website says they have vegan options. Once I ordered a big order with a few days notice, and it was fine. The last 2 times, it was a problem. Once I called the day of and they said vegan orders require advance notice. While pissed I accepted it. The reason they said was because they don't keep vegan ingredients all the time, they buy it for specific orders. I think that's unprofessional, especially since vegan ingredients are more shelf stable than not vegan ingredients. Then, most recently, I called on a Thursday day to request Monday vegan cupcakes. Again, they said they don't have the ingredients. While this is before a holiday weekend, the bakery will remain open all the days of said holiday weekend. So what's the problem? This is really disappointing. Especially because quality vegan baked goods in the bronx are very hard to come by.

I finally stopped by There Should Always Be Cake today after telling myself for almost two years that I was going to check it out. I’m so glad I did. To my surprise, they had a nice selection of vegan items, which is not something I ever expected to find in a Bronx bakery. Finding plant-based or vegan-friendly spots around here is already tough, but a bakery that offers organic vegan options feels almost impossible — until now.

I ordered a vanilla cupcake and one of their organic vegan chocolate chip cookies. The cupcake was really good, but that cookie completely won me over. It had the perfect balance of flavor — not overly sweet, just right. Honestly one of the best vegan cookies I’ve ever had.

I’m so happy they opened up here in the Bronx. It feels good to know that I don’t have to travel far to enjoy high-quality, vegan-friendly baked goods. This is definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to.

There should SOMETIMES be cake is a more appropriate name for this bakery. The pastries are amazing. Truly. The problem? The same item you enjoyed might not be available the next time you order. But not just that. The store might not even be available the next time you want to order. This store has failed me one too many times, especially at the times I needed them to be consistent the most. No more from this store for me!

I called to ask a simple question about a chocolate tres leches cake. After being put on hold for about 6 minutes, I was asked again what I wanted. I inquired if a whole cake was available instead of just a slice. As I was trying to explain the size and details of what I needed, the person on the phone cut me off and very rudely asked, “FOR WHEN?”

I attempted to continue explaining, but she raised her voice again and abruptly asked, “WHAT DAY?”

This level of unprofessionalism is disappointing. Customers should be treated with respect and allowed to speak without being interrupted or spoken to aggressively. Listening is key to good service — it helps avoid confusion and saves everyone time. I hope this is addressed so future interactions are handled with more courtesy and patience.

I was in a rush to find a cake for a friend who is lactose intolerant. I didn't have enough time to order one, but they had vegan chocolate cupcakes on hand, so I took those. Wow! Everyone (and none of us are vegan) thought they were delicious! They were so moist and the flavors of the cake and frosting were amazing. I will definitely be ordering from this place again, including non-vegan options!

True artistry at work and great texture and flavors! Everyone was complimenting the cake at the party. The baker is very friendly and was very accommodating. Thank you for the great work and on such short notice.

I’ve been ordering cakes here for years. Usually their drip rose cakes for friend’s bdays. They are our absolute fav. So when it was time to order a cake for my daughter’s bday party I knew they would make something beautiful and tasty. And of course they did not disappoint! The ladies that work here are also gems! Thank you so much for the cakes! We absolutely loved them and ate every single bit! Everyone loved the taste and commented on how beautiful the unicorn cake was. Thank you!!

They delivered a wedding cake that had Santa all over it. The venue witnessed they had a multi tiered cake strapped in a passenger seat with nothing protecting it. Venue did not want to accept the cake without my permission (as I was getting ready for my wedding) because the cake was so messed up. After the wedding, I informed the owner of what happened. She apologized and said she’d return my payment at 100% ( I didn’t even expect 100%) Needless to say, since I’m here leaving this review, she never refunded me a cent and would not return my calls or messages.

This small bakery is a gem!

The desserts are delicious and reasonably priced, though the cakes can be a bit on the pricey side, but you definitely get what you pay for. They can make any dream cake come to life, no matter how elaborate.

The shop is small but cute, and they offer cake classes for kids, which I think is such a unique and fun idea. My favorites to try are the carrot cake slice, cookies (every flavor), and their cannolis, which are always fresh.

The hispanic owner is a sweetheart and very accommodating. Definitely recommend!
