There should SOMETIMES be cake is a more appropriate name for this bakery. The pastries are amazing. Truly. The problem? The same item you enjoyed might not be available the next time you order. But not just that. The store might not even be available the next time you want to order. This store has failed me one too many times, especially at the times I needed them to be consistent the most. No more from this store for me!

I called to ask a simple question about a chocolate tres leches cake. After being put on hold for about 6 minutes, I was asked again what I wanted. I inquired if a whole cake was available instead of just a slice. As I was trying to explain the size and details of what I needed, the person on the phone cut me off and very rudely asked, “FOR WHEN?”
I attempted to continue explaining, but she raised her voice again and abruptly asked, “WHAT DAY?”
This level of unprofessionalism is disappointing. Customers should be treated with respect and allowed to speak without being interrupted or spoken to aggressively. Listening is key to good service — it helps avoid confusion and saves everyone time. I hope this is addressed so future interactions are handled with more courtesy and patience.
While the cupcakes are good, very good even, the website says they have vegan options. Once I ordered a big order with a few days notice, and it was fine. The last 2 times, it was a problem. Once I called the day of and they said vegan orders require advance notice. While passed I accepted it. The reason they said was because they don't keep vegan ingredients all the time, they by it for specific orders. I think that's unprofessional, especially since vegan ingredients are more shelf stable than not vegan ingredients. Then, most recently, I called on a Thursday to request Monday vegan cupcakes. Again, they said they don't have the ingredients. While this is before a holiday weekend, the bakery will remain open all the days of said holiday weekend. So what's the problem. This is really disappointing. Especially because quality vegan baked goods in the bronx are very hard to come by.

I was in a rush to find a cake for a friend who is lactose intolerant. I didn't have enough time to order one, but they had vegan chocolate cupcakes on hand, so I took those. Wow! Everyone (and none of us are vegan) thought they were delicious! They were so moist and the flavors of the cake and frosting were amazing. I will definitely be ordering from this place again, including non-vegan options!

True artistry at work and great texture and flavors! Everyone was complimenting the cake at the party. The baker is very friendly and was very accommodating. Thank you for the great work and on such short notice.
I’ve been ordering cakes here for years. Usually their drip rose cakes for friend’s bdays. They are our absolute fav. So when it was time to order a cake for my daughter’s bday party I knew they would make something beautiful and tasty. And of course they did not disappoint! The ladies that work here are also gems! Thank you so much for the cakes! We absolutely loved them and ate every single bit! Everyone loved the taste and commented on how beautiful the unicorn cake was. Thank you!!
They delivered a wedding cake that had Santa all over it. The venue witnessed they had a multi tiered cake strapped in a passenger seat with nothing protecting it. Venue did not want to accept the cake without my permission (as I was getting ready for my wedding) because the cake was so messed up. After the wedding, I informed the owner of what happened. She apologized and said she’d return my payment at 100% ( I didn’t even expect 100%) Needless to say, since I’m here leaving this review, she never refunded me a cent and would not return my calls or messages.

This small bakery is a gem!
The desserts are delicious and reasonably priced, though the cakes can be a bit on the pricey side, but you definitely get what you pay for. They can make any dream cake come to life, no matter how elaborate.
The shop is small but cute, and they offer cake classes for kids, which I think is such a unique and fun idea. My favorites to try are the carrot cake slice, cookies (every flavor), and their cannolis, which are always fresh.
The hispanic owner is a sweetheart and very accommodating. Definitely recommend!
I just took my Dominican cake class today and it was a amazing experience … everyone was so friendly and helpful . I learned a lot can wait to take another class there .. Ps: the cake tastes so delicious

I recently visited this after calling ahead, where I was told each cupcake costs $3. When I arrived to place an order for several cupcakes, I was unexpectedly informed by the owner that I would be charged an additional 50 cents per cupcake for packaging if I ordered more than four. This policy makes no sense, as packaging is typically included in the price, especially when the individual is priced for $3. Charging extra for packaging when buying more feels misleading and unreasonable.
When I raised the issue with the owner, she was dismissive and rude and seemed as though I was bothering her. This wasn’t my first unpleasant interaction with her. While she may be talented, her attitude and lack of customer service are unacceptable. I am supporting your business but you’re treating me as I am inconveniencing you? Horrible! I was planning to become a regular customer, especially since I frequently purchase treats for my clients, but due to her poor attitude and unprofessionalism, I will no longer be returning.
In addition, while the cakes may look good, they fall short on taste. I cannot recommend this place, and the owner seriously needs customer service training. It’s unfortunate because I wanted to support her business, but after this experience, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone

I just wanted to say thank you, thank you to There Should Always Be Cake! Not only did they take my order at short notice, but they show and proved that they were the only ones for the job. My son’s basketball themed birthday cake looked exactly like the picture, they paid attention to detail and the cake itself was so moist and delicious! I would definitely do business with them again and recommend them to anyone! Thanks again!!!! Sharon Daly

I ordered bento box cakes and cupcakes for my mother’s 70th birthday celebration. Originally from the BX but now living in MD, I ordered blindly from here (no recommendation and never tasted anything from the establishment prior). My only points of reference were IG and google reviews. With that said, the cake and the cupcakes tasted amazing!!! The bento cakes were BEAUTIFUL and everyone LOVED the cupcakes.
I do wish that the online ordering was more streamlined/simplified. If the price/sizes for the bento box cakes were on the site, I didn’t see it. I knew about the bento cakes from the IG page. There was also a misunderstanding about the price and quantity of the cupcakes. It took some back and forth through the portal and on the phone to get it finalized. I also do wish that the receipt was itemized to confirm the order is correct. I did have to wait for my order to be prepped when I came to pick up despite giving a pick up time and calling ahead which set me back a bit (I should have requested an earlier pick up time). I would order again but next time I would try to make time to order in person.
