Yum, I loved the joloff rice, moi moi and kale. Honey beans dont contain honey, and they make burgers out of these nigerian beans. At first glance it might look like there's a bunch of burgers with honey. My friends loved the burgers Very limited seating and small space Updated from previous review on 2025-05-26

We had a great dinner here. Seating is limited, although there is also outdoor seating. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The food was unusual for us, but great. The burger was very thick and barely manageable, but very good.

Owner was dope. Don't expect the food to come quick, which a plus for me bc it let's me know it's being cooked from scratch. The food was good, even the next day eating it cold. Only thing I wasn't crazy about was the jollof, guess I expected something different from all the jollof rave videos I had been watching.

When I walked in the place smelled like roach spray.... Server was too busy in her phone to see me at the counter... The lemonade was trash... Food was good tho... Overall I don't think I'll go back.

Super friendly owner and great food. (We ordered two different “burgers” and a mango smoothie)
I’ll be back whenever I’m in the neighborhood.

I ordered through their app for pickup. The food was ready when I got there, and it was delicious! I had the Made in Lagos burger, which was crispy and flavorful. The sauce on the side added just the right notes of spice and sweet. The pineapple smoothie was the perfect complement, not too sweet but still felt like dessert. I will be back!

Vegetarian options: Everything is vegetarian, and many things are available in vegan versions.

Dietary restrictions: They ask about dietary restrictions in the app.

The food is just stellar. I am not vegetarian, but the food doesn't feel like it's lacking at all. I love the variety of food. And Funsho, the owner, is a great guy that will tell you more about the food and it's connection to him and Nigeria. Stellar.

Akara house and there special and only found in Nigeria honey bean is so freaking good!! Seriously it’s so good I forgot to take a picture every single time! The akara fried balls are delicious, they also go into the spinach wrap they prepare and it is delicious! For about a month that’s what I was ordering at least 3x a week! The Lagos burger wow crispy, tasty, stacked! The only thing bad is that I wish I have more every time. If you’re a vegetarian or vegan they have two prepared versions as one does have some dairy but this is one of those places that will help you go meatless and there’s no soy based products just deliciousness. I will be expanding past my favorites so go here and don’t be disappointed!!

Absolutely delicious. I ran into the owner on the street he honestly is the nicest guy. I tend to like meat products but this burger is delicious. Would 100% recommend.

Small family business producing high quality food. Very friendly people as well. Don't expect meat or meat substitutes, but not to worry, you won't miss them. I had rice and fritters platter. Food was fresh and quickly made and fritters were creamy and delicious. Would recommend. Especially good for vegans and vegetarians of course. Shop is small and has little seats street side. It's a countertop business with a good deal of love, and comes across in the food.

The vegetables and grains are all new to me and all are delicious. Each dish is made for you. A great addition to Crown Heights North. Small indoor and outdoor eating areas. We do takeout.

Vegetarian options: I think it’s all vegetarian. Don’t recall.

As a vegetarian, I was happy to find a Nigerian place with so many options! The person working there was super helpful and answered all my questions as I asked about almost everything on the menu.
I ordered the joloff rice, moi moi and kale and it was fantastic! That and the fufu and egusi seem to be among the most popular dishes on the menu, the former being more commercially popular and the latter being a more local, traditional type of dish. The moi moi is a steamed version of honey beans using banana leaves. The joloff was a super tasty tomato rice. And the kale side salad gave a nice crunchy texture and rounded out the meal nicely. It was hot and fresh and took 6 minutes to prepare.
I gave a 4 on the atmosphere because it would be awesome to see some traditional Nigerian decor in the place! More people should know about Akara House — especially if you’re vegetarian, you must try it!
