I respect the Ali’s name in Trinidadian East Indian cuisine. It’s a joy to see the longevity and success of Caribbean-American owned business. I have patronized their business close to a decade. Ali’s is due respect for sharing Caribbean cuisines to the American audience.
Food and service wise: I’m so over the long waits, under-staffing, and underwhelming food.
Improve your doubles. Every time I succumb to the convenience of proximity, it’s a worse experience.
1) Have at least 4 people behind the counter, especially during busy days and times, especially when you have Uber orders. Having one person doing all that work is criminal.
2) Stop using the same channa for roti for the doubles.
3) Work on your barra, it should never be hard. Your barra and channa fighting for who could be the hardest! Ah tiyaad!!!!! Read my reviews — these teeth are new!
4) Never again put mustard in macaroni pie! This experience was a few years ago and I’ve never asked for it again. But lest allyuh still doing this, STOP IT!
5) I would consistently give your rotis 6.5/10. The roti skins are often large and take the sauces well, are wrapped tight and survive travel. But it can be improved.
6) My friends tend to like your bake and saltfish and bake & corned beef. I mean, how can you really mess up bake and corned beef?
Please actively work on improving your food quality. I would hate to think that I always get food on your “worse days.” I hope my review lands effectively with the owners and propel them into action. However, they might just read this and STEUPES.
For the increased prices for doubles we really should be getting good quality food!
For anyone in need of doubles, I would highly suggest A&As on Fulton in BK or Trinciti in Queens.

Visited today to purchase doubles which turned out to be the worse insult to doubles. The bara was crispy with turmeric only,the channa was semi cooked and tasteless. Seasoning was absent. The server was extremely slow, inattentive and unable to find a bottle cap opener. I will NEVER visit Ali`s again.

I came from Harrisburg to buy some rotis, I left with 10, 5 chicken, and 5 shrimp. Shared them with family and friends when I came back home. Rave reviews on taste, seasoning use besides the curry, and the size (huge). Enjoyed every bite

The dahlpourie gets a bit thick towards the edges, chicken curry could use a bit more flavor kick maybe thyme, But I think they are on the less salty side of things compared to other places so probably better for you.

I went to Ali roti shop on Utica a few minutes ago , the place was empty, and 1 lady behind the counter. I give the woman my order, she say ok. Instead of starting my order , this woman picked up her cell phone and started flipping through it as if I was not even there! I will never go there again! It seem the last time before today that the place has took a turn for the worse . I was in such disbelief that all I could do is stare at her and walk out!! I always come there when I go to Brooklyn but that’s it! Never again

The staff is awesome, and the food is amazing, a tiny bit salty, but it's good!! I would refer all my peeps and friends to Ali because they are just that good!! P.S. The music sounds great, but it is a bit too loud!! I will continue to update as I get food from them.
