One of my favorite cocktail bars. High quality and well-made drinks with delicious small plates are always solid. Great crowd and a room for private parties as well.

Had a great time at Altar, got some quick bites and a couple of cocktails and a mocktail. The Nada Colada was more strawberry than coconut in my opinion but still quite tasty. The fried chicken was delicious and the restaurant made sure to remove the sesame seed topping from the dish. Seems like it would be a nice date spot with the lighting and ambience.

Was looking for a place to eat and saw there was a tapas place closeby. Wanted to check it out and was not disappointed at all. We walked in and was greeted by Troy who offered us many booths to choose to sit down. The place is nicely decorated and had some oldies playing in the background. Really nice atmosphere especially if you want to date. They even have a private room if needed as well. We sat down and ordered some wines to begin. We thennchose to order 4 plates of tapas. We started with the duck and and tuna. The duck had a nice grilled type of flavoring with figs, which was the 1st time I had this combo. Next, I went to the tuna tartar which was so fresh and flavorful. Troy thought it would be nice to order the sticky chicken. He was not wrong at all. Before the chicken arrived, we sampled the lobster roll which was not bad at all, then we dabbled with the boquerones (sardines) with a spicey bite but not overly spicy. It was really good. Troy checked in on us constantly to see if we were enjoying it, and we were!! Picked up a cote du Rhone wine and was feeling easy. The chicken arrived and was worth the wait. We had an excellent dining experience and looking forward to returning for the rest of the menu!!!

We come here kinda often, can’t believe we never left a review. This is such a complete bar. Snacks, great cocktails, friendly service…This time we stopped by before and after dinner at Chavelas. We had a bunch of drinks and we had fun. The bathroom is bigger than my 3bed apartment

The drinks are really cool here, very eclectic with an expansive menu. Our server Daniel was super attentive and awesome. The bar is beautiful and a great place for a date night. The lights are very dim and the music is Lo-fi so no problem hearing your companion speak like at other bars. The one big caveat at this place is that it was hard to breathe at times because the scent of the burning incense and whatever other methods they were using was so strong that we almost had to leave, but it eventually died down so we stayed. Now I am a person with 7 candles lit at a time in my house so for me to complain about the strong scent is a pretty big deal. Other than that, great place!!

I'm definitely a fan of this place. I've been to spot two different times and it didn't disappoint. First Saturdays it will be hard to get a table b/c the museum crowd has dispersed and made their way here. However, on a random Wednesday while there are people their you will have a better chance at getting a table. The drinks and bites are just enough. I've had a few of the cocktails on their menu fitzy fiz& the pineapple negroni...very tasty! For food I've had the sticky chicken, patatas bravas, steak skewers, & yucca fries...all good. It has a chill dark vibe. Definitely great for a date. However, it's a good friends link up too. I'm sure I'll make it back soon.

The drinks here are always fun and inventive. It's nice to go and get a couple different drinks of varying ABV.The atmosphere is gorgeous. Gives the feeling of a speakeasy without being too dark and cramped. My favourite thing to do is sit at the bar and people watch. It seems to be a place where people go to catch up with friends

Very very cool vibe to this place! Super dark lit, but very classy, cozy and clean. Servers are fast, attentive, and kind without being overbearing. The drinks are positively devine and extremely well-balanced--and reasonably priced compared to high end cocktail places in the Manhattan area. I only left a star off because the place fills up very fast and the don't take reservations--and because it's just very loud there over all due to the hard surfaces and tall ceilings.Overall a really great experience and somewhere I will certainly revisit!

They had me at duck! I have walked past Altar so many times and it always looks so beautiful, mature and discreet. I had no clue what all was in store. First of all, they have a regular happy hour then a late night happy hour. The drinks are layered with beautiful flavors, intricate ingredients, all while being simple and familiar. The small bites were a great complement to the cocktails. Let's just say they were competing for my taste buds.
